Where to buy decent bergen?

Post by Ghostrider »

Awlrite! Anyone know of a good place to buy a gen issue bergen or a similar one, i have read about the webtex type but dont know jack about them. Anyone with experience on them. militarykit . com seems awlrite but expensive. Think its best pointed at the Mods with the experience on this one.

I think i'm with harry73 there. Even though i've never brought any military stuff from there, I don't think it matters how good your equiment is as long as it works. Mind you, you can't really see what your buying when you buy off ebay I think I got ripped off when I brought a 120 litre bergan for £95! and I've used it 3 times in the last year! :(

Awlrite lads, never thought bout exchanging one but spose its an option. Its just really hard to pick up a half decent one, hence why i was trying to buy new but your talking £199, whereas you can get a webtex equivilent for £99. If any of you find a good site or are selling one, let me know. Cheers

Excuse me but are you serving at the moment. If you are and you really want an extra bergen for example then someone should have one. You could even diffi one and sign for a new one. It will be allot cheaper but some units may want an explanation for loosing something like that.

Aye your probably right there. More than likely i'll end up goin for a new webtex so as i know its definately new and fit for the job. Really would appreciate feedback from anyone who has used a webtex bergen.

ALright guys,

I'll think you'll probably find a lot of guys in the armed forces don't buy webtex for two main reasons. One, it's not IRR protected like issue bergens are, and secondly they aren't as hard wearing. I've seen Web-Tex fall to pieces on one or two occassions.

The issue bergens are good, there are no real faults with them (except, as you said, price). I would suggest Arktis gear, as they are generally very good.

Happy shopping.

Use yell.com or something to find military surplus shops, ring round. I picked up a used but fairly good condition short back for £85 a couple of years ago (not including rocket pouches). Even if they're nowhere near you most are really friendly and will post if you ask nicely

Try this ghost rider. the person selling has over 1300 sales, so looking at his feedback, he should be a pretty safe set.

You just need to sort some rocket pouches.

Hope it helps.
