Phys in Foundation
Phys in Foundation
Hi I am currently waiting to go down to Lympstone for the start of my recruit training in August and I am just wondering if any one can tell me what kind of phys they start you with during foundation. I think I heard one of the PTIs say that they start you in the gym on the running machines and such but im not to sure, is there anyone who would be able to tell me please?
No, you wont touch the running machine until you reach further in training, you will be spending all your time in the gym doing those panzy introductury movements, you'll see what i mean when you get taught them. I think the first Phys session was just like PRMC a bleep test, push ups, sits ups, and pulls ups. To be honest i was shocked when i first started cause it was easier then i expected (the phys that is) but then as the days go on, its just becomes a thrashing each time. I found that it got harder all the time, always adding more rope climbs and camp circuits in all the time.
All well, look forward to all the beastings your gonna have, you'll especially love the mud run! thats not knackering at all ...
But yeh, just be as prepared as you can, the harder you train now, the easier it will be for you.

Hey James, what date do you start training? I'm due down there on the 29th of August.

Not all the time, you get like double phys sessions sometimes, and maybe a swimming session too. But its not always like that, most the time its just one for the day, but you always running about or getting beasted and stuff after anyway, so it all depends really. Just keep your cool, clear head and get on with it. We got a mud run in like week 4, which was pretty harsh, but we had it easy i suppose cause we didnt have to take weapons or more kit with us (which some troops have to), but then again some troops go all the way without getting even one. So i wish you all the best! lol

Lanky bastard! I though I was tall with 6"2! Damnit going to have to start over!
There used to be a tradition that new troops would go out on the mud and mark their troop number in it (run around as a squad marking the name). It it still happens this run is still hard - you play 'games'
as well as the squad run but sort of good natured and even fun
If you get one after that then it is a truly emotional experience and the admin afterwards is attrocious.
Enjoy it mate. You have much more than that (good and bad) to look forward to. The good definitely outweighs the bad.
