Fellas,
There is talk that the long standing relationship between the SAS and landrover has come to an end (according to 4WD magazines).

Obviously not a replacement for amour, but LSVs are causing a stir...

I am interested in LSVs, from many angles they appear to deliver an advantage on many levels;
* Strategic - small and lightweight, easily trnsported in aircraft and ships.
* Tactical - Easily moved around on the battlefield
* Survivability - small enough to be a hard target
* Weapons - can be fitted out with a range of weapons to suit various needs.
* Versatility - can be fitted out in a range of variations (attack, support weapons such as 12.7mm, 20mm or even 25mm chain gun, medical varients etc etc)
* Stealthy - can self deploy over long distances
* Price - a lot of bang for a small buck

The Australians appear to have had great sucess with their famous 6x6 Landrovers (as a patrol vehicle with teeth)

My point is why are there not more of these? Surely the ability to quickly transport heavy weapons around a battefield is attractive and could benefit a company weapons platoon.

From a users perspective how do they really perform in combat and what do you see as positives and negatives with these vehicles?

In the future, will there be a greater need for them?

How could these vehicles be improved?

Add 'reliable' to the mixture - easy to fix on the hoc - ...and the requirement to be economical over long distances.
