Is what you are saying if you pass the POC but fail the AIB you will be given the opportunity to go join the next recruit intake without having to do the PRMC?

A lot of people who fail the POC could be on the next intake as the POC is more than enough for the team to know if the guy has a chance of making it. The POC is like a PRMC... on acid!

That's interesting. I thought the POC sounded harder but I didn't think that it sounded that much harder from the training guide.

You can do the POC and will almost certainly be accepted as a Marine if you fail without doing the PRMC. With a Phd you have so much more life experiance than many others who have done GCSE, A Level and straight in on a POC. Don't think about failing because they won't put someone on the course they know is going to fail, why waste the money?
Do the POC, see how it goes and the world is your split capbadge.

Be the best that you can be. Dont worry about if you'll be popular and all that, its irrelevent, all new recuits are the same. As an officer you'll need to tough, resilient and have excellent leadership qualities. You'll need to keep cool headed in any situation and be able to inspire your men in battle. Also you must be both physically and mentally equal or above your commado's, its not an easy job but if you think your capable; do it, if your unsure then don't do it.

p.s as far as your salary goes, an officers is considerably higher.
