I'm coming into this thread late and as a newbie, but one who can nolonger play jarhead because of asthma. I had no symptoms at all until returning home from Desert Storm in 91, and had been in the USMC for almost three years, 285+ on every PFT, CONUS and on Okinawa. Had to drag down two inhalers three times a day to get it under control, along with no PT. Forced laziness and the drugs offered me an extra 40 to haul around, but I was still in spec. Long story short they let me finish my enlistment but said hell no to a re-up.
15 years later... I still have the extra 40 pounds, due mainly to a woman that can cook. Down to one inhaler that I am supposed to hit twice a day, but use maybe twice a month. I've tried six times in the last twelve years to get back in and the USMC don't want me. No matter the MOS, every Marine is a rifleman first. I could probably weasel my way into NG or USAR, but they suck possum ass, and I just can't force myself to pucker up. I just standby waiting for the coming revolution to free my homeland from the teeth of the socialist empire known as the Incorporated States of Amurika. :x
