PRMC Delaying
Ive tried searching but found nothing specific.
Anyway, im meant to have my PRMC later this month but I am unsure about my fitness. Ive been training hard for the past 3 months but I am still concerned that my cardio fitness could be better, although my upper body strength has improved. To put it simply, I dont think that I will pass the PRMC.
My question is will it go down well with the AFCO/Lympstone if I asked to be put on a later course (say in 2 months time) or should I just have a go and see how I get on, giving everything I have? I dont want to sound like a faggot, but I want to be sure I have the best chance possible.
Thanks.

I agree, Though I've no exerience of RM.. yet, I imagine theyd think a lot more of you if you showed up and gave your all even if you dont pass all the tests' rather than if you didnt show up at all. A book I have called 'Hagakure' has a bit in it which reads:

Anyhows good luck if you go mate.A certain person was brought to shame because he did not take revenge. The way of revenge lies in simply forcing one's way into a place and being cut down. There is no shame in this. By thinking that you must complete the job you will run out of time. By considering things like how many men the enemy has, time piles up; in the end you will give up. No matter if the enemy has thousands of men, there is fulfillment in simply standing them off and being determined to cut them all down, starting from one end. You will finish the greater part of it.

Interesting but somehow I don't think having you commit Seppuka if you fail a Gymn Test will catch on really!A certain person was brought to shame because he did not take revenge. Lol yeah the philosophies of the samurai are a bit outdated but what I take from that quote is that you shouldnt give up on something over the thought of failing or how difficult it will be, something which I imagine is true of all RM. But no, ripping ones own stomach open with a knife wouldnt really help here.
I'll trade you my PRMC date for yours
Hell, I haven't even got a date yet, but it looks like it maybe a August PRMC date. I would happily do it tomorrow, unfortunately it doesn't work like that
Like everyone else, I think you should just go for it. As long as you have the determination and a reasonable level of fitness, theres no reason you should fail. And if you do, at least you experienced PRMC first hand and prepare better for next time
Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the replies.
Its not that I dont want to go, I just think that im not fit enough yet. Whats the point of going if I think i will fail when I could delay it for a couple of months, get the extra traning in and then pass? In the past ive been fitter than I am currently, so at least I know that I can get a bit stronger.
I'll think about it over the weekend.

Blair where are you at right now in terms of fitness, ie max pressups, sprinting and 3 mile run times. Although you say you could be fitter, couldn't everybody ? Id say if your pressups / situps / pullups are over 40 / 50 / 4 and 3 mile run time is under 21 then just go and do it because with those type of scores and the will to pass, you will pass!

I dont really know as I havent been testing myself. I can run the three miles in about 21 minutes, do about 40 press ups and 60 sit ups and about 5 pull ups. But on the day I dont reckon ill get those scores. Im worried because ive lost nealry half a stone in the past month and hurt my ankle a little, but thats no excuse and its too late to pull out now. Im going, and ill give it my best. If I fail I wont be gutted but ill double my efforts for a second attempt, if need be. The thought that I could be lined up for a place at Lympstone has put me in a positive frame of mind, even though I look like an Auswitch survivor.
