Poor little blighter, parents must be suffering too. Send them our best Dave and give us a heads up when you want bods on the fan, Has anyone put a collection box in and around Brecon? Ive seen boxes for less worthy causes, and Brecon has a strong link with you airborne fellows. Get the marketers on the case give us a shout if you need a goffer to help out.

After Action Report for the Fan Walk

0600 I got up feeling quite fresh (How Mr Fresh's daughter "Quite" got into my bed remains a mystery), undaunted by the task ahead. I dressed and then had a bath, then got changed as my rig was now wet. Breakfast was two sausages and a cup of char, then I proceeded to sort out my daysac, coffee, ciggies etc. I placed daysac on I'M A SCAMMER SPAMMER!!! counter to fill the hydration bladder inserted in the top flap, when I heard a crack! Checking all limbs and spinal column, it was obvious the crack wasnt anything to do with me. On closer inspection I discovered it was my old dears specs that had placed themselves under my daysac! Fark! Quickly I put them in the daysac and kicked the dog so as to feel better.

0630 Transport arrived on time as it had been parked outside all night as it does of an evening. The journey to Storey Arms was uneventful, but as I was the sole passenger and duty driver getting my head down was difficult.

0700 Arrived at Storey Arms (Grid Ref; On the main road to Cardiff) it was cold and windy which is unlike Storey Arms, as usually it has horizontal rain aswell. It was rather busy at Base Camp seeings as I was alone. My plan was to scale the peak and photograph the Airborne arriving.

0705 With daysac on and Mp3 plugged in I crossed the Rhine and headed up to Camp 1.

0710 Arrived at Camp 1 and had a ciggie.

0715 departed Camp 1 and made for Camp 2

0735 Arrived at Camp 2 and had a blow of my nose as the wind had picked up and I was sniffing like a junkie.

0745 Arrived at Summit to be greeted by Cloud and Drizzle (which was which I didnt know but nice people anyway) so did a little jig (my version of the fan dance) and returned to the saddle between Corn Ddu and PenYFan. This, however, seemed to be damp aswell so I started my decent. My battery on my Mp3 was now dry so I searched my daysac for a Yomp song and found Meatloaf You took the Words Right Out Of My Mouth to which I repeated the words I knew and hummed the rest. As I descended I stopped to talk to two airborne types and a doggy. They were ascending early to display a rather large airborne flag (sorry lads forget your names but hello again anyway). As we were discussing the finer points of late edwardian furniture restoration two other airborne fellows happened upon us and then farked off.

0815 Arrived back to base camp to be greeted by no-one and changed into warmer clothing. Expecting the rest of the Para element to arrive at 0900 I returned to Camp 1 with thermos and camera.
First river crossing performed by the recce element didnt go well and he ended up with wet feet, still for comedy value he scored top marks! Next a Lady in full DPM rig performed crossing with what seemed to be a small baby in her arms, she was uneasy on her feet as she crossed the stream but as I hadnt finished my ciggie I was in no position to help. Only when she came closer did I realise it was an airborne teddy, then my palpations stopped! The next to cross were a single airborne warrior and two nonces in full lycra and bandanas! Airborne paused to light his ciggie and then took off in step with the fitness boys and they seemed neck and neck as they disappeared over the horizon.

0900 Main party due to arrive, I lay out ground marking materials and send a flash transmission to HQ, I didnt get a response as to be fair I didnt have a radio. No troops arrive at the pre-given ETA. .(Farking cold by now I can tell you and fark all ciggies left and no coffee!)

1030 Main Party arrive, and I stress PARTY, seems Brecon and her pubs had been well used for pre-deployment briefings. Main party river crossing went smoothly and the usual exchange of pleasentries where ummm........exchanged. Phots were taken to record the event and they dissapeared up the Fan.

1100 Returned to base camp or "carpark" as it was code-named on the map, and sniffed around the refreshment area to no avail.

1130 Took the old dears glasses to the opticians and paid £185 quid to get them fixed!!!! Pick them up next week.

1230 Returned to base.

To the ones I spoke with, hello again, to the ones I didnt speak to I didnt like you anyway. Particular note of appreciation on exchanging inter-unit greetings must go to the dark haired gentleman with knee brace who apparantly hadnt had as much fun since his dog died.

Best female rear seen climbing past me has to go to the blonde chick in red tracky bottoms.

Apparantly a cracking night was had in Brecon and I hope the rest of today went well and the party after was a good one.

Hope the little lad recovers from his forthcoming op and all the efforts you guys made go in some way to helping him and his family battle on.

I think the girl who runs the site "Yone" has all the int on that one mate. Im doing a Pool night at my local some others are doing footy matches bed races and their could be a big match in Aldershot as we did before two years ago. As i posted before this could be a good opportunity to have a Red v Green match
