hi, I have my trade interview soon, (and I know I have read it somewhere but can't find it) just wondering how long it would take to hear the result? (they are making the medical take place only if you pass the interview, don't know if that says anything though).
Cheers

This is because there is an element of 'competition' after the interview. Basically, all the candidate's cases are sent to a central location and are reviewed by a Board of recruiters who will pick the best candidates to fill the available vacancies. Those candidates will then progress to the medical. This process can take in the region of 2-4 weeks.
I know a guy who applied for trade position (can't remember what as), found out at the end of the interview whether he made it or not (the interview actually ended on the line 'well done, you've succeeded'). After that, he went straight to the medical and had that done within 2 hours of the interview finishing, so I'm not sure on the credibility of your post Biggles...

It depends on the trade that you're applying for and when your friend made his application. Not all of the trades are going to competition and the new process only started in the later stages of last year. Was your friend applying for Gunner?
Also, this was most likely to have been his final 'Entry to Service' interview (AFCOs call it the 308 Interview). It is common that candidates can be told they have been successful at the end of this interview. This won't happen after the SELECTION interview because a candidate still needs to be vetted/security cleared and for references to be sent/recieved etc etc etc. The final interview is usually conducted by an officer or warrant officer and allows them to conduct a final check that you are entirely prepared, motivated and fit to start RTS. Contrary to popular belief - you can fail at this interview.

It was the 1 with the 5 parts, family, hobbies, work experience...etc. Not sure what role it was, but got a feeling it was some type of mechanic or technician role.
After the interview, he still had to do a medical and get his references checked so I'm not sure. I'll see if I can get him to post here as obviously he knows more about what happened than me.
