Substitute for swimming

Post by McNamee »

Just about to embark on a long training program out of a book somebody suggested here off of amazon (thanks to whoever that was).

A lot of the training program though, includes swimming, but the problem I have is I live nowhere near any baths, any suggestions as to what I could insead? Just a some more running I 'spose.

Cheers

Suppose if your near a gym you could use the rowing machines - very good for all round fitness. Other than that you are correct - more running!

Gazza, is there room for a swimming pool inside a gym, either the pool must be very small, or the gym.

Reading some Navy seal fitness book,, It said that if you cant find a swimming pool cycle 3 times longer than what you were planning to swim.. If that makes sense.. :-?

The one at the gym i use is about 20 meters by 5.

Saying that if anyone used to go to a nightclub in south Manchester called Liberties you will be sad (but proberly happy) to know that it is now a gym. The swimming pool is where the food bar used to be.

The gym has 3 floors so it can fit it.

I did some interval training in the pool and it was a killer. 1 length slow, one length fast. Out of breath after 5 or so lengths. You use all the muscles in the body, and you can feel it too. I'd rather do it than running.
