Hey guys,
Have just had my feedback from OASC, attended in December, unfortunately not the news I was hoping for though.
Does anyone here know how the final grading is worked out and what it represents?
Cheers,
Ben

Hi Ben,
I just got news back from OASC, and it wasnt quite what I was hoping for either however, all is not lost in my case.
The scoring system works (apparently) the higher the score, the better chance you have of getting accepted. You get scored in seven categories and these scores go up depending on how well you do. I have heard that the scores are out of 5 for the final assessment. My own score came out as 22 but, I then received another score which was 3+ which the board president downgraded to 3- (from my experience a fairly common practice as people I know got downgraded).
Out of interest what were your scores ?.

Thought this might be of interest
this is somthing i found a few months ago while researching OASC and IOT it has been very helpful for my preperation.
If you look at the board grading system it may help clarify scores.

I also used that information to revise when I attended OASC in June of last year and it was very helpful. Unfortunately I think parts of it are now out of date.
The fitness levels are no longer relevant as they have changed the points system.
Also I know of at least four people who got offers from OASC and they all scored 3's in their selection. So again, it would appear that information is a little out of date.

Grading socres - OASC
Spoke to my AFCO today and they confirmed that the final boarding grade is out of 5. The breakdown of scores according to them is as follows :
1 - go away and do not darken our door again.
2 either + or -, not bad but has known deficiencies and would be a risk on I.O.T. so go away and come back in 'x' months / years.
3 either + or -, good candidate with minor deficiences and would have a positive chance of passing I.O.T.
4 - Good candidate with no deficiencies
5 - Ready made RAF Officer
They also told me that practically no one gets a 5, and very very few get a 4 nowadays. Finally most entrants onto I.O.T. get through scoring a 3 + / 3 - but with the current situation competition remains fierce.

damn shame to hear it never went your way this time, just keep persurvering (sp?) because you know you're made of the right stuff!
Cheers for explaining the breakdown for me, my AFCO was crap at explaining it and I left rather clueless as to what certain things meant and had to find out from other sources.
My final grade was initially -3 but the board president docked it down to 2 -
I don't have a problem with them coming to that decision except that the explanation is contradictory. (quotes available on request!
)
The other scores were initially 19, but dropped to 17 and my overall OASC performance for officer as 'acceptable'
So as the breakdown suggests I'm rectifying my faults and ensuring I don't let the rest slip!
2ndtimeround, keep banging at the door mate, you'll get there in the end I'm sure of that! And good luck everyone else!
