Training Partner?

Post by HotShot »

Hey all,
By the sounds of things, it's best to train with a training partner, but even though I live out in the country (kinda), I currently know of no-one with a similar interest in military training, although I am part of an athletics club.

Any1 here in the north lincolnshire area who is interested in some training, just things such as running, swimming and gym work. Just incase any1 was wondering, and if it matters, I'm 17.

Don't knock training on your own. Finding like minded people to do the training you will be interested in will be hard. Personally I prefer to focus and not have someone jabbering anyway in my ear (depends on the individual ofcourse.)

Well my view is if you have enough breath to talk then your not running/training hard enough!

yea i found hat training with a partner was harder as you lose focus and don't work as hard.

I had my younmger brother with me on some of my runs. He was on his bike and cycled beside me. The little horror kept cycling faster and I wasn't allowed to lose him!

The best part about having a training partner is when you are lacking motivation. We all get days when we can't be bothered to get ourselves off the settee and out in the cold, wet outdoors.

A structured training regime with a committed and competetive partner helps hugely. It works like this, "I may feel like death but it's 7 o'clock on Wednesday so it circuit training." :x

The way it works is that on the days you don't feel up to it he does and vice versa. In any case your not going to wimp out just because you've got a runny nose or a slightly broken leg now are you, he'd call you a wuss and quite rightly so.
Archie.

I envy you lot for knowing like minded people. I have been weight training for a number of years and have never had a training partner for more than a month (must just be me eh? .)

So to find someone willing to train with me for a POC I think I'm knackered but I don't have to put up with other people being late, not turning up  , or genereally gabbing in my ear. I'm my own training partner and it's myself who pushes me and no one else.

Humph, you sound just like my granddad (was in 45 commando). He hated training with others too, but i do strongly recommend that you should find someone that enjoys training just so you can have a pace maker of some form. Obviously if you feel that you can manage, thats up to you as i trained alone for a long time and i still kept the motivation.

im not sure if anyone has metioned this already but, BUY A DOG! what could be better! its always going to run when you are (unless it's asleep). And you cant have arguments with it! and if its small, you can carry it in a bergan if it gets tired out.

You could always eat it, carbs and protein a plenty. Give you that boost to finish your run.

But the dog isn't trying to do 3 miles in 22.5 minutes, if you stop, so will he, therefore not motivating you. But i agree with the eating idea, lol.
