Think its time to chill out?

Post by Gazza85 »

Went to my gym today to get a training plan sorted out, started chatting to the instructor, turns out he had just come out of the paras after serving for 5 years as one and a PTI.

I told him what i wanted to do and he started sorting me out with a really good plan, strapped me up to the blood pressure monitor and it was 180/70. And i was told i need to see a specialist to get a note saying i can go in the gym.

3 Months ago it was 150/70, funny thing is the company i work for was bought out by another one in July and i moved over to the new office at the start of August.

Since then my blood pressure has gone from normal to bad, i am having to travel 1 hour each way in a car instead of a 20 minute walk like i used to, im doing 3 peoples work since all the old staff are leaving and my new boss is a tit, we are only allowed a 45 minute break a day for lunch but i can only take 30 due to phone cover and stuff.

Do you think i should try and get signed of work by the doctor or would this effect my application? if needs be i will hand in my notice and go temping but the temp company dosent like the idea of signing me up when i might not be here in 2 weeks time.

Any thoughts?

O and the only reason i have time to write this is because i have been of work sick

O and i know some of you will be thinking, if a job gets to you what about a CPL screaming in your ear at 100 decibels but the difference is thats what i want to do.

The job im in at the moment i dont, i simpy went with the flow since like everybody else, bills dont pay themselves.

Look ole chum if you are not fit now, joining the Army could kill you. If you are taken ill during training and the Army gets hold of your medical notes you are out on your ear. If I was you I would stay in civy street and be done with it. Any way just how do you think you will be able to charge around laden like a pack horse, with out running into serious medical problems. Sorry mate you need to be fit for this sort of life.

It was 3 months ago when i had my selection medical, my blood pressure was fine both times and at the heart specialist for the "murmur" i dident have.

Been thinking about it anyway, im handing in my 1 weeks notice, taking christmas off and then working at tescos till i go on. Just deciding to hand that in makes me feel more chilled.

He measured my blood pressure 3 times, when we talked about where i worked it was sky high, when we talked about him bheing in the paras which lasted 2 minutes it had dropped by 25 on the higher one.

Although your BP is high I wouldnt panic just yet. You should have it measured when rested and relaxed. If your doc measured it and it was ok then you have nothing to worry about.

Yeh thats my point, 2 doctors said it was fine in august, less than a month since i moved to this new office. As soon as i leave it will go back down. Even though work will be crap for the meanwhile i will be more chilled purely knowing im going.

High blood pressure in a young man is not normal, stress or no stress. I am an OAP and mine at the moment is still normal. Also I have lead a far from quite life, so if your blood pressure is high at the moment and you claiming it is through stress, then what is it going to be like when you are going into action and are trying to carry a hundred weight of kit on your back. Also there could be other problems related to your blood pressure and it can also cause other problems, like high cholesterol, and diabetes, have you had these checked out. I am not trying to worry you mate but you would be wise to have a full check of your systems.
