Us marine corp fighting in fallujah videos. this is a must.
If you want to see the us marine corp fighting in fallujah go to the bbc.co.uk website. On the tab on the left select middle east, then look down the right hand side until you see the video link. Once selected browse the videos, some of them are brilliant. To return to the browser menu just select back on your toolbar. Here is a teaser, In one video there are troops entering a building where they didnt know there was a bunker, the marine says he shot an iraqi and then a grenade is thrown at him so the troops retreat. After frags are thrown back into the building and the troops enter another grenade is thrown at them. They retreat again and start to fire rockets at the building. Then they try going in through the roof access stairs. Then a grenade is thrown at them so they retreat onto roof and the rebels start shouting alah akhbar alah akhbar which i think means something to do with god. But dont worry the marines sort it out the marine corp way in the next vid with tanks which just obliterate the building. All in all the footage is brilliant with some scenes shot in rooms where rebels have just been minutes before this is so with an rpg laid up against a wall as if people have fled minutes before. or like when the us marines where on the roof and just down the stairs where rebels shouting, now that is really close like 3-4 metres away.

This really shows what they're up against and the tactics the insurgents may use.

To be honest i'm surprised just how quickly they seem to have moved through the city, as Ben Brown said in his report that they were only a matter of metres away from reaching the outskirts on the otherside. Interesting to see how they relied on the heavy weapons to kill the insurgents in the house. I dont think anyone can blame them for not wanting to storm a house that might be set to blow.

Yes it's a good idea. I read a book on Stalingrad and the Germans did this but the Russians began attaching hooks to the grenades so they would snag on the wire and then explode. The problem with a challenger 2 (or any other large tank) is if your in a narrow street then your gun is almost useless if you can't turn it and the enemy can get in close to you quickly without you noticing. Anyway the USMC seem to be doing a good job but they aren't winning 'hearts and minds' by blowing up mosques. Unfortunately though they don't seem to have a choice.dalo wrote:Hey humph that is a good link i thought the wire netting to stop hand grenades is a good idea and would create problems, unless your challenger 2 is working. lol oh i love them. lol
