Injuries

Post by friendlyfireaintfriendly »

I intend to be joining the Royal Marines in the not so distant future. However for the present i have dislocated my knee (patella) while on an assault course. Most ligaments are fine and it shouldnt be too long before fitness again however... does anyone know if this might preclude me from joining the Royals or the forces in general? also if it doesnt is it likely to cause any complications while in? Doc says it should be fine but im not sure if he meant for intense military career or just normal day to day life

I dislocated my shoulder four years ago. Had to get it rebuilt 8 months ago.

You may be screwed !!

Well I hope he isn’t. Or when the afco doc gets hold of my medical folders hell bin me.

Dislocated shoulder.
Torn alkalis tendon.
3 broken arms in 6 months. (That hurt)
Runners knee.
Broken ribs.

To name a few. But then again, I’m fitter and stronger than I’ve ever been.

Just wait for it to heal properly, and then start training lightly on it. And ask the AFCO mate.

 No they are all spread over 10 or so years of rugby and being an idiot.

I didnt do it all in one year or I would be in a wheel chair :P . Shoulder was the most recent one. That was a bugger to fix.

Went to Frimley park today, basically semi military hospital. Got treated by a RAMC doc in a stroke of luck. Long as its got no real damage it should be fine but i may want to wear a knee support for a while

No mate it wasnt tendonitis, I tore it playing rugby, and it pretty much screwed my whole season up and half of the next season, was a long time ago mind, but I still get the odd twinge when its cold. I was on crutches for 2 months, then just had to wait for it to heal on its own. was a long process mate.
