Did anyone see the programme about the French Foreign Legion on 'Adventure 1' last night?

Right, a note to all about the legion today. I was told at the AFCO that I'd have to wait 18 months to join the RM because of a criminal conviction, that was nice to hear the day before my aptitude test. I was right pissed off, went and got shitfaced, made the decision to join the Legion, 12 hours later I was in Lille at the recruiting station. Went to Aubagne, passed selection, was sent to Castel and "The Farm" within 2 weeks of going to Lille. After about 2 weeks at the Farm it really clicked as to what I was, one of four English speakers in a bloody refugee camp. No lie, there was 3 Brits, me, 4 frenchman, and the rest of the 42 were literally refugees from Romania, Moldovia, Russia, Ukraine, Croatia, Serbia, Kosovo etc. I deserted and made it to Tolouse (approx 65-70km) and the Honorary British Consulate (I'm a dual citizen). My father sent me my bank cards from home and I made it back to England in one piece luckily. I'm not going to go into the professionalism of the Legion or anything like that, as I'm hardly qualified in that department. But if you think it sounds like a great adventure, think long and hard, then think long and hard again. Unless you have absolutely no other option, don't even consider it. Also, if you do go and try and realise its not for you at Aubagne, have the balls to put your hand up and go "civile". I didn't and held on for foolish pride, and risked more than my pride in doing so. Had to get this off my chest, if anyone has any queries give me shout via PM.
