Evening all from Week 3

Post by druadan »

Hey folks, just got a bit of free time so thought I'd stick me head in the door. Moved out of the Foundation block on Friday, into the best grots on camp, San Carlos. Start of week 3 now, hopefully losing the lumitabs on Monday, so long as we crack the first proper inspection in the new block.

Training team seem alright, we've got a Corps Commission Captain as our Troop CO, and a RNLMC Sgt as our Troop Sgt. The PTI and DL are both sound as well.

Phys starts off fairly relaxed, hanging out at the end of each session but not completely dead. Did our first log run, just one camp circuit, the other day, that hurt! Scran's good, but far too much admin...anywhere between 2 and 6 hours sleep a night in Foundation, not good!

Most of the lads seem sound, got a couple of nobbers and one lad (26yr old spotty faced stick, used to be a program developer or something) who is useless at everything. Maybe he'll come good, maybe not. We've also got an Aussie and a Canuck with us. Two lads have dropped already (one because his mother died of cancer, which he didn't even know she had), the other I think had a few problems at home and wasn't enjoying it.

Couple of good-ish runs ashore, got pissed, left me shopping behind the bar in Metzo yesterday so gonna have to go get it next weekend  . Families Day on Friday then off home for a piss up. Only 30 weeks to go!

Aye, one of them's moving into my room (got a 4 man with only 3 in San Carlos at the moment). Only saw him briefly, he moved in literally as we walked out the door to go on leave. We've got a couple of biffs who'll hopefully either sort themselves out or go in the next weeks or two.

Have any of you guys got a Mancurian in your troop called Wood with giant ears and fairly short in statture? He was in my room for PRMC, just wondering how he's getting on?

Yeah, he's in my troop...he spent the night in cells last night, after coming back too steaming to even get past the guards on the gate, let along the duty JNCO. He whacked four or five of us during the night when we tried to stop him drinking any more and then tried to get him back. To be honest he seems to piss a lot of people off, I just stay clear of him whenever possible. As I said nearly the whole troop's sound, but we have got a coupla nobbers.

The small backtrooper's moved into my room! And he does seem a bit of a biff, but he's moved into 4 section (my section at the moment, and the best of the four by far!), so we'll square him away! Also got Merchant and a lad from week 16 (got backtrooped to week 10, but was ill so couldn't go on an ex, so back to us...he's going back forward after week 7 tho).

Nice to have a full weekend off, had camp circuit and rope climb x5 first thing Saturday, but nothing else; hoofing run ashore and a hell of a hangover!

Phys getting gradually harder, we're apparently well above the average as a troop, we're jumping ahead of the program on runs and so on (4 miler instead of 3 last week, so probably doing 5 rather than 4 tomorrow etc). We're not too hot at drill though! Got Ex Quick Cover this week, 3 nights on Woodbury, not looking forward to Peter's Pool or wet and dry! Got weapon tests on Tuesday, so probably lose a couple of biffs there, and another lad has handed in his notice.

28 weeks to go...

What are the affects of the gas and how long does it go on for and what do you have to do?

We went out on he piss with him after PRMC. He got completly pissed on about 3 pints chatted b*llocks for about an hour and was generally doing our heads in. So we sent him off to help my mate Rob chat some birds up. Rob wasn't amused as about 2 minutes later the birds legged it...

He can't handle his drink for sh!t. Apparently after that session he woke up about 4 stops passed Manchester in only his boxer shorts and had to call his mum to pick him up...
