Once A Marine as we know it??? with the introduction of RM Official Web Site

The Corps have got their SH*T together at last - must have been because they had no control over Civvie-Street
Thoughts on a postcard or below...

Don't be daft??!!?? No chance. The "offical" site will be monited so you can't say boo to a goose etc etc.
Must have a look at it but only if it is of any worth will it go on the list of favorites.
Either way as far as I concered this IS THE OFFICIAL SITE as it has everything that is required.
Must have a look

Just had an email, telling me off that I have "jumped the gun" with the brand new site. It is not up and running till 1st March.

Is that a case of January February quick MARCH???!!?? Joke??

Best is the bloke who told me off, well I took him through training in 1974. So he's really enjoyed that one. Can't beat a dig at the training team??

So Malone wind your neck in and wait till St David's Day.
Hit me with a daffi

I,ve had a glance at the so called web site,I dont know what improvements they intend to make,If it is based on what is there now it is going to be pretty dull,It will not replace this one,as far as I am concerned this IS and always WILL BE the official channel.

"God Bless Civvie Street and all who participate in her"

It looks like a lot of work has gone on behind the scenes - no doubt very expensive you are looking at minimum £3k to £10K plus hosting charges, by the looks of it, it will be maintained by the Cpl who currently writes the Corps Secetariat's site. so a continuall work load to keep it updated. (That is the hardest part)

Only negative thing I can see is the tight control of everything being emailed before it is authorised to go on the site. No freedom for it's users. But what did you expect from the Corps?

But on a positive side, it exists and it will be embracing new technology bringing the Corps into the new Century. Which has to be good. I think it is a positive message. Give it time it will improve.

If there is to be a site for the RMA then it must be available on the same basis as this set. I note that gensec says in his "responce" on 16.02.02 about "these exciting initiatives" - sorry Brian you cannot expect us elderly gentlemen of the world to get too excited about a freephone number & bank card. The Corps site is NOT an RMA site, nor will it be accepted as one if members and potential members cannot question matters. Perhaps you wish to comment on "A Cry in the Wilderness" in Misc Discussions - a copy has been sent to G&L for inclusion in the next copy ... but I shall not hold my breath. Nice to know you are watching over us!

Sorry to revive this topic and I guess most of us already know that the RMA under Paddy Dunn have set up their own web site for members and potential members at:

www.rma.org.uk
or
www.royalmarinesassociation.co.uk if you prefer...

Have a look at the thread 'RMA Reunion' under 'Royal Marines'- 'General' which is all about the CTCRM Sunday you were putting chairs out for!
