Press ups help Biceps?
Press ups help Biceps?
Hey lads and lasses, just wondering do press ups train biceps at all, and is there an exercise that can do biceps that does not involve any weight lifting equipment? i dont think there is but worth a try.
Get a pull up bar from argos/index and fix it to your door - You can do chin ups (undergrasp) - these will work your biceps among other muscles.
You can increase effectiveness by holding the exercise at the bend - with the chin over the bar, or even better hold the exercise at the mid point with elbows at 90 degrees.
Press-ups do not work the biceps although depending on how you do them they may be active as support muscles, in other words they may support the other primary muscles being worked ... etc, etc ...

Gunn, why do you not want to use weights? Is it that you're young and don't want to stunt any growth or that you don't have the money and/or space for weights? I guess you could use the weights at the gym if you wanted to.
In an old issue of Men's Health, there was a pure workouts book that had ' how to's ' on every part of the body, including home workouts (minus weights). One bicep exercise in there was to hold your wrist with one hand to create resistance and do an ordinary bicep curl.

You're pretty much stuck there mate, i think you'll need to rearange your routine during the day to make more time for going to the gym. Have you thought of that.
