My AS results were as follows:

Politics - D

History - D

English Language - B

Iam going to retake 2/3 modules in history as one of them was an A and the others E's, so hopefully i will manage a B if not an A.

I am all on course for RM Rupert at the moment, and i can only train and train some more in preparation for my POC down at CTC which should be happening around January next year, so not too long to go.

I hope everyone acheived the grades they wanted/needed for whatever you choose to do.

Seems a lot of us have been in the same situation that we couldn't be arsed towards the end of school, I'm lucky though just managed to scrape 6 C's, Scottish Highers though which are easier than A Levels unless you're a dunce like me.

Ain't the end of the world though there is always another way to get to where you wanna be so like druadan said crack on!

I'm just about to start Uni and hopefully after that become a "Rupert" in the Royal Scots.

By the way AC what regiment are you in? I'm 32nd (Scottish) Sigs.

Just a question regarding officer entries.
Is it on points or the specific grades too whether you can become an officer?

You need 140 UCAS points to become an officer, plus the other requirements on the Navy website.

UCAS points are as follows:

AS Level:

A - 60
B - 50
C - 40
D - 30
E - 20

Full A level:

A - 120
B - 100
C - 80
D - 60
E - 40

Hope this helps

But they only take grades A-c, which is why I'm spooned for the moment. Anyway, took a long run in a thunderstorm and mulled things over. I'm going for re-takes, as the AS ones finish by December so I'm pretty sure the A2's do too. Plus I wasn't too far off the grades, even got 100% in some, which came as a suprise.

So, taking on the chin and putting it down to experience; you don't get something for nothing...especially if it comes in exam form and you're in the corner with a coned hat on

Good choice. Much better to get some decent grades now, not only so you can join the Marines as an officer but also so you will have them on your CV for any future civvie job. What's 6 months in your life anyway?

I didnt think that A2 was much harder than AS but, like others have said, I just completely lost interest and motivation in the second year. I should have left school after my GCSEs and got an apprentiship or a sports qualification. A levels arent valued these days and ive learned no skills in school which could be used in a job. In my opinion, unless you want to go to uni A levels are a waste of time.

Yea, i suppose. But some jobs do require A-levels. And it shows that you are of a higher standard of education. The main reason im doing my A-levels is as you said to go to University... :drinking: :drinking: :drinking: :drinking: :drinking:

I would recomend A-levels. Leaving school with only a handfull of GCSE's doesn't leave you overly qualified. Even crap middle managment positions at McDonald's need A-levels. If you are interested in Sport enough to go and get an NVQ or what ever then you might as well do PE or sport studies at A-level. Even the personal trainers at the gym have done this... and lot of them have sport science degrees to their name... And who do you think is going to get the better jobs?

Thrithraing,

May i suggest you speak to your AFCO about going through the officer selection while doing your retakes, then this way you won't have to wait for another year, Then hopefully they can offer you a place subject to grades. There was a lad on my AIB who was awaiting results.

By the way, i've been informed that there will be no more than 40 in this years batch.
