Originally modeled on the Brit SAS the Aus is nearly identical in almost all respects, inlcuding selection and training methods, and the two units maintain close ties.
Regarding secondment, I know that US Army SF (green berets) allow 2 year secondments to the SAS for (ostensibly to aid in training and selection), so I'd imagine that the roles are reversed as well.

Hi oskar5,

Let me just say at the moment our Aussie SAS are losing men to do private security work in the middle east. They are being offered obscene amounts of money to leave the SAS. And I am so ashamed to say this but the SAS have a recruitment drive for men to join the regiment. It has been in the news out here and the impression that is given that any joe blow can try out for it. So I did some investigating and I found out that they were only allowing people from specialist units from the police etc... to try out and most of these people were dropping like flies. So my point is if you are up to the standard of the british sas and want to transfer I think it maybe a good time to try.

Anyway the weather is better in Australia and the beaches are sublime what more incentive do you need to make the move ha ha
