Royal Marines is the choice to go for m8 !!, well at least i think so 8)
Where abouts in "Glesga" do u stay m8 ?? Thats also my Local AFCO, i come from Hamilton, near E.K.
Did the AFCO give you the Potential Royal Marines fitness Schedule? If so then start doing that, its a good fitness routine and if he didnt give u it, well heres the link http://www.mfat.co.uk/rm.php?page=rm1

Thanks Shifty

Welcome To Military forums,

Use the Search button (top left) to find out the topics which you are interested in. Chances are they have already been covered like POC, Nutrition etc. If you are looking at Officer entry it would be important to keep up to date with current affairs.. Watch the news, Newsnight, questiontime and read some broadsheets. Read up on the history etc on the Royal Marines. As for fitness, Just slip a pair of trainers on and get out the door and run!.

Im looking to buy some new trainers aswell. Let me know if they are any good.

Good Luck!

Dude before POC ad try PRMC first, although this is me, as running goes sprinting is the best way to get fit, do a 100m sprint, have about 10 seconds rest and do another 100m, keep doing this untill u collapse, u also need to run long distances aswell to build your running muscles up to cope with endurance, so 2 times 5 miles a week should do the trick, make sure your trainers are well cushioned to avoid shin splints and thats pretty much it, if you have access to a gym hall and equipment IE mats, beams, benches, horses etc... set out a little assualt course, this will give you a good advantage, maybe you could get some mates involved :) good look mate, when in POC/PRMC when your thinking about giving up give it 30 seconds and if it doesnt finish coutn 30 again

PS the royal marines fitness schedual is PAP! the marines themselves want to change it!

Hi "Moffoot"
Half way through reading a great book for anyone interested in joining RM's.
There was a tv programm a while ago (1991 i think) about ctcrm following different troops, and they also made this book, trust me its a good book to get an insight if you (like me ) have no clue what to expect !
Its called "Commando, Winning the green beret." by Hugh McManners
Would love to see the programme but havnt been able to trace it down yet :x
anyway good luck with whatever you decide

Hey Moffoot,

I think runniong the dual application for the marines would not be such a good idea, you have to be very careful with your AFCO sometimes because don't forget they have their numbers to hit. If you pass poc, and god forbid fail your AIB, then your POC pass is eligible for 12 months and you can phone up for a date to start recruit training and not do PRMC again, wheras if you do it the other way round you won't have that option and may regret it because a PRMC dater will come around before the POC.

As far as training goes, your AFCO should supply you with the training programme. In the meantime i've copied it up on a mates website: www.urbanninja.co.uk

Will
Hurry up 8th December....I think i'm gonna Pass Out!!
