Nice to bump into Nimard there, good to see you mate. The PGAC isn't easy (well ours wasn't anyway) The New Course staff told us in a fit of rage that he only took the job so he could "pass and fail who he wanted" in his regiment.
Those going down soon should consider;
Instead of sitting around on a night they have you doing drill (Nimbard does a wicked "Mr Soft" from the softmint adverts!)
Room/kit/bed inspections - We had loads.
3 Miler - this is done in about 22mins (well ours was)
Short tab into the field is double all the way, no joke you are sprinting in most places. On this just stick at it
Getting beasted - "In the press-up position down!" Some lads didn't like this.
Swimming test - YOU CANT DO BREAST STROKE - you have to do front crawl the whole way around (even though it says "any stroke"), one lad was robbed of passing because of this.
Get to see some lads on the TGunner course in a curcuit training session (looked nails) They had only being there for about 2 and a half weeks and i was amazed.
All in all our group was one of the good ones, a mixture of people who have reserve experience, some about to go army/ marines (one lads spent a week with the regiment prior to PRMC and changed to PGAC).
About 17 out of 28 passed - YOU CAN FAIL FOR BEING A MONGO, even if you pissed the fitness.
My advice is get yourself over the standards you are told, do as your told and do all your asked to do and you'll pass. Talk to the lads in your room - all the lads we were with were sound and a really good laugh.
Most of the stuff they ask you to do they know you cant do it but they want to see how your react (e.g Fast Tab) As long as you dont give up then you have the right attitude.
You'll all be pleased to know i passed!
