Hayfever

I just read on the RAF careers site that hayfever automatically stops you joing the RAF. Does any one know if it only applies to certain jobs or very severe hayfever? I dont want to miss out if I can possibly help it!

I think it may only stop you flying, but I would check with your AFCO.

I was under the impression that as long as it wasn't deemed to be too bad then it was ok for ground trades. You can never be aircrew.

Never mention it ! Simply the best advice I can give you some med docs will be okay with it others maybe not ! Seriously if you dont want to end a career before it starts do what many others have done and hope they just dont notice!!

If you have ever had anything prescribed for hayfever then you may have a problem because they trawl your med records.

Unfortunately I was given a perscription for hayfever so it looks like aircrew is out of the question. Hopefully I can still do inteligence if the rules aren't as strict. Its encouraging to know that others with hayfever have still got in. Just have to keep my fingers crossed!

Got PGAC next week and my hayfever is hideous (just keeping it quiet). Physically it doesn't stop me from doing training etc, but as someone said it just feels like a cold. Probubly going to be out of the country during summertime anyway (when in Sqn).

Never mention it ! Simply the best advice I can give you

If they catch you lying in the selection process you will automatically get binned. There will be no second chances. Dishonesty is a definate NO-NO if you want to join the forces.

If you have hayfever, then discuss it with the doc in the medical. It deedn't be an automatic debar from Service.

Dont mention it during selection progress, the good thing about hay fever it can hit a perfectly healthy person at any time so once in tell them your having problems etc... they wont discharge you on the grounds of hayfever

If hayfever prevents you from flying, how about an engineering commission, you will be fraternising with air/groundcrews and of course the aircraft itself.

Don't kid yourself, failure to disclose information during selection is the same as lying. If you are caught knowingly withholding information you will fail and you will not be allowed to re-apply.

The RAF doesn't employ people it does not trust.

LOL...how do you expect to sue the RAF for getting hayfever?

The answer is simple, spend less time sniffing flowers.
