Judy, what the makers did was think of everything humanly possible that he could do, then filmed it. For each clip they probably had key words like "lie down" or "sleep". Then whenever any fool like us goes to type in a command "Go to sleep" it searches for that clip and plays it. That piece of programming I did in 3rd year computing at high school.
