Hey JJ,

I'm sorry to her about your knee. I remember the funny looks I use to get when people use to look at my swollen knee. I have not had much luck either since speaking to you, I have sprained my ankle. My fault for running on uneven ground in crap trainers. I bought myself a nice pair of Asics and waiting for the swelling to go down before I get running again.

I'm resting my knee now, lots of ice and a bandage!Up till now i've been desperately trying to get to selection, now i hope i have a week or two more till i go!
So you won't need surgery???I'm really pissed off now as i was just starting to lose weight slowly, now this!!
Let me know when you're ok again,if my knee is back to normal i'll have to do a lot of catching up fitness-wise!!
All the best...James

Expect a long wait to go for selection mate! It doesn't matter how many times you phone the careers office as it's not in their hands. The only way they are allowed to contact the selction centre is via e-mail as they're not supposed to phone. But as soon as your letter comes it'll be a great day!

We'll have to get together for a game of basketball sometime. Basketball players are well known for their crap knees!

So you know, at the selection medical, they will ask you to squat down, bounce around and shuffle backwards to check your joints. They will also apply slight pressure to your knees with their hands and ask if you can feel any pain. This is all they do to check your knee joint.

Thanks for the info cooper!I'm not gonna play basketball till i pass selection :D never gonna risk it again!!getting into the army is really important to me!
I've done the medical for the German Army (for national service) and never had any problems.
The careers office in Germany said they would send my forms to Blackheath,as i'm stayin in london now.But i'm still waiting for some bloke to confirm that i'm allowed to join the engineers as an electrician(i'm a fully qualified electrician in Germany)!!sounds stupid, but it's taken almost half a year, and nothins been said!!

I'm still not sure if I need surgery, I asked the doctor and showed him the lateral movement. He said he would send me to a specialist. I can expect to wait a few months for the letter to come to confirm an appointment and the wait another 6 months or more for an appointment.
I'm 24 right now and getting worried about my age and how much more time I have got. This is a big blow for me especially after the effort I have put in to get my fitness up to standard now I have to start all again and there is still no guarantee that I will pass the medical.
