I am currently at university, nearly finished my second year. Hopefully joining in 2005 as recruit.

I agree with Maverick00, it's useful having something to fall back on, whether it be due to injury, not fitting in or after retirement.

I did pretty well at GCSE ( 1 A*, 7 A's, 1 B and 1 C). I'm doing my A levels at the moment, got B, B, C and C for my AS. I'm finding the A levels much tougher than the AS and as a result am having to re-take a Biology unit. I hope to go on to Uni to do a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science. While i'm there I intend to join either the RMR or the UOTC and then hopefully go for a commision after graduating.

Thats my plan at the moment, just got to get the grades and put it into practice.

im an Aussie, and i just want to know, what are A levels and GCSE's. In Australia we have a junior certificate, and senior certificate. The junior certificate is given if the student passes their 10th year, and the law says that all people must go to school till their 10th year, then you can opt to go to 11,and 12th years, where you, if you pass will get you senior certificate, and get a rank, (in Qeensland it's a rank from 1-25, 1 the best and 25 the worst), Uni's use this rank to give student courses, such as to do veterinary science you need a 1, is this simmilar or the same?

And another question, is it free to do a uni course?

Liam, your junior certificate is the same as our GCSE's and your senior certificate is the equivalent to our A levels. And no the uni degrees aren’t free unless you take one in nursing, where they actually pay you to do it...

Cheers lads, clears a few questions
Well that means im currently doing my equivilent of A levels, im in my last year of school, thank god, bitch is though, that I have some nasty exams coming up.
so many of you appear like you do not want to finish school, in Australia most i mean upwards of 95% of people are expected to go through to finish whether or not they go to uni is irrelevant, its hard to get a job here if you dont finish school, is this similar in Britian, or is it reletivly easy to get a job?

I did GCSEs, A-Levels and started a degree in Law. Uni is not for me ... so I am going for a commission.
If not then non-commission, either way RM!

I'm currently in my final years of GCSE's. Am predicted good results with a few exceptions (IT and Music). I'm really sick of them though, some of the subjects are so pointless, like the majority of science work, totally useless iformation which after this year I will never use again. Next year I'm set to do A-S levels in History, PE, Government and Politics and Maths. Above and beyond probably go to uni then attempt a commission, but don't want to make too concrete plans because I'm only young and likely to change my mind on a lot of things.
