Someone is either pulling your pickle mate or your lying. I think he may have been on a motor bike.
Listen in men give 100% or i will thrash you till your eyes bleed!

God is airborne because he failed his commando course!

Less than 5min/mile pace. Not beyond the realms of probabilty but he must have been one skinny whippet and would have to have been a very good runner before he joined. How well did he fair loaded down with a bergan?

It is obviously over 5min/mile as that is equivalent to 7:30 ;)

Sticky: Im trying to remember the address for the website that works out that information for you. Dont suppose you could post me a link could you?

If i can recall correctly, it allows you to enter the distance and time and then it works out your speed?

7:43???? Not bad that like. Im on 8min 32, hoping to get somewhere below 8min before I go in the paras. The SGT on the insight course told us that some of the lads in the Paras get there times down to about 6-7min. Whatever happens, i plan to get my time below 8min, even if its 7min 59sec  What are everyone elses times on here?

will let you know if he beats that time.

Anything under 8 mins is very very good. Hope you crack it Mal, I never managed it, best I achieved was 8:40, but there again that was wearing DMS boots

When I went through basic there were two lads in my intake that ran the 1.5 mile in 7.15. One of them would be coughing his guts up at the end, whilst the other guy stood there straight faced. Apparently he could only run as fast as the quickest man. So we never found out how fast he could go.

I don`t know if the timings for the run are just for basic training, but every male upto the age of 30 has to run 1.5 miles in under 10.30 regardless of trade or regiment. Anyone over this is on remedial which will look bad unless you plan on being a private indefinately.

By the way the guy that ran well above only just passed the situp bleep test, which never made sense to me.

Ditto. 8:40 in combats and DMS boots was the standard for the PTIs. Any lads in the unit who could do the BFT in under 9:00 were doing well. A 6 min mile wearing that gear is not to be sniffed at. These days I'm happy just to sustain a sub-7 min mile in runnng kit!

He didn't - 8:26, poor lamb said he was tired, bless.

Not to worry he was happy enough, now look forward to his pass out parade this Friday, proud day for all.
