Sorry if this sounds abit harsh but surely you can work that out yourself from either using some common witt or by looking at one of many threads discussing things like this?

But to answer your question. I would run 4 times a week (slowly building up your distance/time) and one day in the gym using the crosstrainer, rower/ bike. Also don't forget swimming!

Davey, have a look at the training schedules published in either the Para or 'Joining the Royal Marines' sections. there are plenty of posts available, stacks of info. I suggest you start by using the search facility. Top left of the screen.

I have been trying the schedule, but the amount of pain i am in when am running just isn’t right. I don’t know whether it’s because I am unhealthy or I have pulled a lower leg muscle. But anyway thanks for the advice. Mental note- warm up before doing 6 mile runs!

I still get shin splints now, whenever I increase the intensity of my running training. Does anyone know what can be done to prevent this? I know about ibuprofen, stretching, and shin strengthening exercises, but they keep coming back... I have to keep taking time off of running to let them recover.
