For some parents it can be hard to accept that a son or daughter wants to join the forces. Try to see it from their point of view too - no one wants their child (whether the child is 2 or 52) to be in any form of danger. In time, when they realise how serious you are about joining up they will get used to it and will inevitably be very proud of you.
I couldn't agree more. You have to live the life that you want not the one that your parents want. So go out there and start living it.You only get one life, it's not a rehearsal

Slight departure from thread, but.............. I'm going to adopt Buddhism, that's not the beer, it's the religion. I want to return as a Labrador, have you ever seen a miserable Lab in a pub. All the women scratch it's chest and stroke it. That's for me.
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

My mums absolutley fine with it. Her previous marriage and who i believed was my father for a long time was a pongo and went on to special forces. It actually suprised me when she asked if i had considered joining the armed forces (at the time i was getting ready to tell her). Whilst my step dad didnt agree to start with, he eventually realised it was my choice and said he'd support me all the way. But suprisingly he's the one that gets mushy about it and says that they'll worry because we get sent into conflict zones first. Thats when he's nice, the rest of the time we tell each other to f**k off cause i'll be leaving in a few weeks and wont need to come back
P.S i passed prmc January 13th-16th and im headed down for my 32 weeks on March 15th... anyone else down there with me?
