From joining the Royal Marines, being one of the youngest to do selection for the SBS and pass, one mans view of his time spent in that service.

An interesting read, good times and bad times.

Got this book when it was 1st released, couldn't put it down 'til i had finished it, then re-read it. I try to read a lot of military books & have got through a substantial amount of them but, this by far is my favourite.

Ahoy there!
I haven't got round to reading this one yet, which is a shame because I was fortunate enough to be on the same JCC as the author.
I was a bit of a sprog and he was a great help to me regarding map reading, fieldcraft etc.
He had been decorated with an MID, but when asked what it was for would always say something like "helping old ladies across the road" or "rescuing an old lady from a gang of hells angels".
Apparently, apart from an author of books, he is now a screen writer in Los Angeles.

Just finished it 5 minutes ago! I read this book almost non-stop for two days it really is a great read. Author is not just talking about himself, it is more an overview of SBS training and ops over the last 25-30 years. Amazing to complete RM basic training, SBS selection and 14 Int. Det. selection all before he was 22.
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

Thought it was a great read. Seems to put down the SAS at every chance. So did another book called Black Water. Written by ex RSM of the SBS. Also a good book.
