shaving problems !

No you cant take a battery operated on in the field, thats what I meant by electric.

Wet razor and spare blades and shaving STICK AND BRUSH only, don't take your big can of Gillette foam!

What views does the staff have on shaving options during PRMC? Same as basic, just hand razors?

Joe you will use razors, battery ones go dud, too big and are noisy and are difficult to maintain in the field. Do not ask to take a shaver because you wont be allowed one.

If you do take an electric batt powered razor into the field and your caught.... Best get used to running around with a lot with your Weapon above your head.

Training teams have a very evil sense of humour indeed. They can sit there dreaming up things to make your life a total misery with every sign of enjoying it. Keep to the rules and you will be OK. Unless some of your fellow Nods are a wee bit silly.

And don't forget they know all the tricks, they did the same course as you which a lot of Nods tend to forget.

When you say "stick and brush" what do you mean? I usually have a can of Gillette, and that's what I took for PRMC. No one pointed me out for it. What are the other options? What do you suggest, as I'm CTCRM bound in 10 days for basic.

In the olden days, before shaving foam came out of a can, the only way to get a lather up was to use shaving stick and brush.
The stick is a 2/3 inch piece of soap and the brushes were made of badger hair ( allegedly)

To get a nice foam was a malarky of wetting the soap stick and rubbing it in a jar or your hand then using the brush to foam it up and apply it.

Gillette still do them I saw them on the bottom shelf in Asda only today

What I would recommend instead is shaving oil and a bic orange razor

Go to Boots, they have a shaving stick that has a plastic cover, whats more its black, what more do you want!!

Seriously though, you don't take a can of foam in the field, its better in the accomodation yes, but in the field its shave stick and brush all the way. Definetaly get the one with a pastic cover, saves a lot of mess, as when you wet them they dont seem to dry at all and you end up with soap everywhere.

Stix made a suggestion earlier about shaving oil. These oils are in containers the size of your thumb. Very easy to use in the field, and save stacks of space. Simply wet your face, apply 3-4 drops of oil and shave, no rash and the oil prevents a sore face, especially beneficial in the winter. Battery razors are useless in th efield, especially in Norge, the batteries get cold unless you kip with the razor in your slug, and they do not get rid of the hair an alert stripey is looking out for!!!

There's another benefit of using oils in CTC, just listen tot he bollocking Nods get for having shaving foam behind their lugs. Music to my ears.
The one I use is 'Somersets shaving oil' available at Tesco/Sainsbury/Boots etc. lasts about 3-4 weeks. Try it and see.

Prez, I had one of those wee bottles, K series or something they are called, right?? Anyway, I was told that I shouldn't have it because it would run out if I was in the field for a prolonged period of time, a stick and brush was better. I wasn't going to argue with the sgt that on the bottle it says its good for 100 shaves....
