Hey guys I need some help.I am a South African and I'm coming over to the UK to join the RMs but I have know family or friends that I can stay with while I go through the whole joining and selection process.I remember hearing somewhere that recruits joining could board with someone in the Armed Forces, if that persons CO agrees.Does anyone here know if this is allowed? And if it is, do you have to stay with someone in the RMs or can you board with someone who is in another branch of the Armed Forces?(and how much would it cost)
It would be a huge help to me if this was possible as coming from SA I'd have to bring loads and loads of cash to support me(SA Rand is 13 to the Pound and getting worse fast).
If anyone knows something I would really appreciate it!!!!!!!!

You're making it more complicated for yourself. Better to just live in a civvy home, maybe with students?
Get the working holiday visa and work while you're going through the process.
It doesn't matter where in the UK you live because the Forces will get you to Devon for any courses on travel warrants.
That way you could avoid the hopeless financial spiral many Antipodean backpackers get caught up in because they feel they must live in London.

Hey man, hang tight. I have been here for a few years now, and RM has a 5 year residencey rule, which might be waivered under certain conditions. I have been trying since 1999, and I am just waiting for my PRMC date now. Keep training, and get a job in retail or something to tide you over until your time comes. Keep trying don't give up.
