Post by davo141 »

when i had my last interview i named the commander general; cant remember who it was at the time but i named him as the man having overall control of 3 brigade royal marines....looking on their website it said that brigade general was the main man....

just wondering which one, if the question is asked which i should name and why over the other :-?

a confused davo, cheers

3 CDOBDERM =Brigadier.
MGRM CDOFORCES = Major General.
MGRM TRSF = Major General.
CGRM = Lt General.

This is as it was 14 years ago, so, I might be out of date.

To get the gen buzz ask Sticky Blue, he's still in! If he don't know then God don't know!

All I know is that Stix decides and the rest follow! (he's my hero, and he sent me his autograph so I could frame it)

3 Cdo Bde CO is Brigadier AA Milton at Stonehouse Barracks in Plymouth, IIRC. 3 Cdo Bde including the various commando regiments/squadrons such as 29, 59, 539, Medium Armoured Recce etc. Then you have the RM Command at Whale Island in Portsmouth, which includes 3 Cdo Bde, CTCRM, RM Poole, and a couple of others that I can't rememer when pissed, which is commanded by a full blown General if I'm not mistaken. Which I might be...doubting myself after Artist's post!!

AA Milton is a major general and brigadier Dutton is the brigade commander but Brig Dutton is being promoted to major general this year so i dont know if hell still be the Brigade commander.

As kwew said,

Commandant General Royal Marines = Maj Gen A A Milton (i.e. top man of the RM)

OC 3 Cdo Bde = Brig J B Dutton

This is how it stands at the moment according to the most recent edition of the G&L. Brig Dutton will soon (14/05/04) be moving up to Maj Gen & CGRM. Who will move up to OC 3 Cdo Bde I don't know.

For those of you planning on joining the Corps you could do a lot worse than to get yourself a subscription to the Globe & Laurel (Corps Journal). Inside the front cover of every issue is a breakdown of the RM Command structure detailing who is IC of each unit. The articles will also keep you well informed of what is going on in the Corps. The price for a year is a miserly £8.40 (UK) or £16.80 for overseas air delivery.

To get a subscription email the G&L at royalsmag@btopenworld.com to find out details.

Or go to http://www.royalmarinesregimental.co.uk ... ption.html for a subscription form.

Good luck lads.
