The General at the press conference said it was US forces along with coalition special forces. So I wouldn't be surprized if it was us or the aussies involved.

I'm surprised he didn't top himself, also surprised that whoever hunted him down didn't kill him like they did his two sons, it would have saved a lot of trouble later.

Can't think what a trial is going to acheive in the long term.

This is what 'Spanners' was referring to; the search for weapons of mass destruction was instigated immediately, they're down there somewhere! Tony said so! He said he would get to the bottom of it so maybe they are starting at the wrong end.

A picture of a living Ozymandias! Shelley was right:

Half sunk, a shattered visage lies..........

My name is Saddam, king of kings,
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing besides remains. Round the decay
of that colossal wreck........

With abject apologies to the poet!

Sis

They were also checking his mouth to see that his tongue is still there as no doubt at the court of human rights he will be asked who supplied the Iraqis with the chemicals and the know how in the 80's and where all those WMD's are dispersed (Earthquake time in Syria methinks!)

spanners/ cbb

too true,

Although I guess, for the moment, we should just be thankful he's been caught and, hopefully, Iraq can start to move towards some sort of stability. It's going to be hard but without him being caught it would have been pretty nigh impossible.

I'm just surprised he didn't use some of his Millions to buy himself sanctuary somewhere. Idi Amin managed to get the Saudis to put him up for years.

The only weapons of mass destruction they will find in there is bad breath :(. I wonder if he had a toothbrush with him down in that hole. :o
