And for all of you who think that the young ones are not supporting it, then get of your backsides and get down to your local memorial and see just how many of them turn out while those who passing these remarks are sitting watching television.... .
Exactly.

I'm 15 and I have been down at my local cenotaph every year from I was 6 with my gran placing a cross for my great-grandad, her dad, taken prisoner of war at age 17.
you gotta search within you, you gotta find that inner strength, and just pull that shit out of you, and get that motivation to not give up, and not be a quitter no matter how bad you wanna fall flat on your face

Sticky Blue I was working there when the chap set fire to him self and that must have been about 14 years ago. He was the son of WW2 hero
of the RAF which must have upset father even more as remembered the Air Crew that he had lost during the war.

Ive watched it since i was a boy. My first experience was watching a parade whilst my dad was serving in germany. I may hike into town and show my support.

A Question for JR, Stix or anyone else who has the correct answer....No I dont have the answer!
I noticed that all the Royals on Parade, with the exception of the Duke of Kent, were in their Royal Navy uniforms.... and that thy were all wore their swords on their belts....? as apposed to the selected RN officers, who as tradition directs were carrying theirs Are Royals exempt............Now I know the history of that tradition....other members may be interested in hearing t from those who know it in its entirety

Hmm In front of the T.V eh? Kwew bud you've got no excuses for not getting yourself to a memorial, living in brum. Watching it on tele is easy. I went to church today and I have to say that 70% where of 'Kids' my age and younger ...

Who said the younguns don't care? Maybe it's something to do with the lack of education from their parents?

I felt quite proud standing next to men my grandfathers age, proud that I know people willing to stand up for something, willing to die for a cause. And men my grandfathers age were proud of us for caring ...

 Mike,Regarding the carrying of Swords by Naval Officers.

Army officers and RAF officers wear their Swords close buckled to the belt,so that the scabbard is fixed in position.

Their are numerous schools of thought why Naval Officers carry their Swords.
Naval officers have a Sword scabbard which is attached to the Sword belt by two leashes, one about 9inches long and the other about 2ft in length, the theory was that Naval officers in the age of sail could not handle a Sword and scabbard in battle when boarding enemy ships or climbing aloft,Naval officers wanted to throw away the scabbards and have the Sword completely unattached,Hence the reason Swords are carried.I think you will find that on Ceremonial occasions the Sword and scabbard are fixed close buckled. Aye JR

I was on parade with my company at middlesbrough's cenotaph today paying respect for those brave individuals who have fought for our country past and present.

As i only joined up 2 weeks ago i feel proud to have been in the parade.

unfortunately, i had a call and had to go into work today, can`t have the civvies going without their pop now can we. At 2 minutes to 11, I pulled up on the hard shoulder of the M1 southbound Junction 9, opened the nearside door, radio 4 on full blast, and stood to attention for the silence and Last Post by Her Majesty`s Finest, I had quite a few funny looks, but stuff em all, I remembered, why couldn`t they. Would they have been driving down the M1 at all, if our comrades before us, had not made the ultimate sacrifice?
