Post by Jay03 »

I haven't got a PRMC date yet and i have only been training seriously for 3 months. i just wonder how much alcohol affects your training? I don't really drink but the odd time i do i worry about how much it sets me back?? Any advise??

One or two pints pints at the weekends wont do you any harm. Just get up really early on Sunday and burn it all off. Some guys go teetotal throughout their training, but a couple of pints a week wont do you any harm.

I realised that wilst on my rest day i do little as it is....so why not get rid of a hang over on it!?

Get drunk or what ever staight provails from the night before....could be a few sneeky pints or a heavy mix of JD - coke and the john smiths....laid up watchin the tele is the perfect way to have a rest day and recover...

My rest day is now either friday or saturday depending on the weekly occurance of the Lash!

With me been a skinny bugger anyways...it wont exctly make me a rite podgeoff so i think.....in resonable amounts and with some thinking, there is no reason why you should stop drinkin...

Come to think of it though mind...3weeks prior to my PRMC i did not drink once! so depends on your mind set.

Cheers, dave

Drinking n marines

Dont worry about it. As long as you can still do the runs and the phys the next day you'll be allright. your not training to be an athelete, your training for mental toughness as much as anything else. I went for my PRMC still hungover from the night before :drinking: (stupid but you dont do the tests till the next day anyway) and still passed.

Our ex-shooting coach who used to be in the Navy told us that during his basic training they were encouraged to drink Guiness to increase their Weight!! :D

Whilst in training had my first hang over.

This went on thoughout training always on a Sunday morning. Reason? simple, The Nods hop in the old NAAFI every saturday night. We all went, be you 17 or 27 you worked hard and you played hard. And you drank and tried to trap the "Wonderful young?" ladies who were bussed in from Exeter.

Never happened as they always went for the Cpls and trained soldiers so you had your beer staggered to "Dutchies" bought the most unhealthy food ever made by a human being and ate the lot sat on your pit.

Sunday was a day of rest so you didnt have to get up at 0600hrs. Dinnertime you had your scran and proceeded to the NAFFI to buy a paper and have a hair of the dog. They were some of the happiest days of my life to be honest.
