There are no misunderstandings here. You know what i said ( if you can read that is).voodoo sprout wrote: Perhaps a smilie might be in order to prevent misunderstandings?
Yeh i have had a look at the back of the t-shirt , and the front side is better thanks. Christ, how many times have i heard that little RM "joke"."Sticky Blue" wrote: Quite ironic that he has a Royal Marines t-shirt on his avatar!
Have you seen the back of the t shirt? You really should have a look
I have respect for the RM yeh, they are a proffesional bunch of soldiers/sailors and some of the best troops we have in our army, but ******** like Stick Blue really annoy me.

I think this is a difficult subject to talk about.
Ive been thinking if i would have accepted a gay soldier in my crew, usualy three people on a radio datachment.
I say people because females as well as males serve in the Royal Signals.
Some say girls should not be allowed in the Army, buts thats another subject.
But the problems that arise could be similar, sexual worries,is he or she going to hack it in a heavy situation.
Ive shared my det with women and men and the only problem i came across was the physical strength that some women lack.
In fact working with women has its plus points, you can take the p-ss out of each other,or have some interesting conversations.
The sex side dosnt enter the equation, or washing, you just turn a blind eye while the other washes, its called respect. You are proffesional soldiers and act accordingly.
So would i have a gay soldier on my det.
Im still thinking about that one.
The reason i have posted this is that gay people as well as black people have the right to join the Army, weather they can hack it is up to them.
I think that you would have to serve with a gay person to see what it was like. The same as ive served with females who i would have no worries if they were in my crew.Perhaps its the fear of the unknown.
Here' a little question. You are going on a night recce to suss out enemy possitions, strength, morale etc.you have a choice of two people to join your section.
Soldier 1 has just joined up and you have already noticed he a bit clumsy, his field skills are poor and he seems nervous.
Soldier 2,has been in the Army for two years and is confident, well dissaplined and good at field craft, theres only one problem,he,s gay.
Well who do you take ?

Thanks sticky blue,Interesting point, but that could be more connected with women serving in the forces rather than gays.
Like you have said gay men would only have a relationship with another gay man.So unless there were were more than one gay man in the crew there would be no problem.
The question on seeing your boyfriend, girlfriend hurt is an interesting one.
My first detatchment commander was a lovely blonde girl who after two years we became close. But only as close as two males in the same situation.I dont think anyone would like to see there comraide hurt but it does happen and i suppose you would have to deal with that situation when it arose.
