reveille, Markers,Officers call,Cookhouse,defaulters,Mail,alarm to arms,clear lower deck,and then my favourite finished for the day and not forgetting lights out and maybe a few other calls I've missed.

Reveille, Cookhouse, Sick parade, half hour warning for parade (1 G shit sleeves, 2 G's great coats, 3 G's waterproof capes), Quarter call, Guard and Band, NCO's and Markers, Fall in, Officers Call, (perhaps a fanfare if it is a ceremonial parade), School call, Mail call, Stand Easy, Cease fire out pipes, carry on, Cook house, Fall in, Defaulters, Parade for guard, fire call, Dismiss, Piquet, Libertymen, Sunset, Lights out! Just to name a few. Sadly the barracks routine of calls has now ceased but the are still there just incase. Not forgetting the tousands of Alerts at the main gate for visitors and officer's dinner calls... oh the joys of being duty bugler!!!
I've still got my DMS boots and puttees in the loft, somewhere with my white PT kit, pusser's vests and pants.

There is a CD/Cassette of all these Bugle calls which was recorded just before Eastney Barracks closed down by Bugler Alan Pinner RM, it is called "Sound the Alert" it was recorded in 1992...the Royal Marine Museum did have them in the Gift Shop, I don't know if it is still on the market...maybe Sticky can confirm.

Actually I have the cassette, (I never had a CD player in those days) but if you are and old Sea Service Marine it certainly brings back a lot of memories, and it is a bit of Corps History as well.

The days of Green Lid, Combat boots/DMS boot n puttees, Denims, Whooley Pulley and Para Smock as bog standard rig for Royal seem to be long gone. Now it seems to be DPM's with everything.

Yes the Wooly Pully is still on issue. When ordered to (note, not when required) they are put on over the top of the new CS95. They are regarded a bit like "warmers kit" now - must be all that global warming.

I take it that everybody knows why CS95 was issued in late 1997 and not renamed CS97? And no, its got nothing to do with Bill Gates!!

The first run of CS95 was commonly known as Windows 95 due to the fact that the vertical thread in the weave had a habit of perishing round the crotch area (due to the load placed upon ?) leaving large windows round the tackle! Slightly better now due to a different material and manufacturing process but still not a patch on the old Tropical Combats washed in NappySan to get them as loud and garish as possible worn with an Windproof smock and Danner boots and topped off with a Victor silk lined lid for that Gucci Trooper look!

I know im a bit late but full lovats is not peak cap,if it ever was,its not anymore.
Im wearing my full no.2s tomoro for my mates wedding,hes a pongo,and most of the lads there will be.

It was for Junior Troops and Recruit Troops in the seventies. And in them days they were the Rough buggers! Two sets were issued Smooth Lovats (like they still issue) and Rough Lovats (Total shoite rig!) Kin peaked cap was a right bloody pain!
