I´m sure we wont get agree about the Malvinas...so stop talking about the history facts...I join this forum to exchange information about the war...so let´s do it!
Twenty one...remember that the British also had a few more ships like the Atlantic Conveyor and we were really lucky because we shoot those exocets to a carrier...
Changing the subject Yerterday I was readying a book about the malvinas and I reallised something...The HMS ARDENT was really important for the war...this frigate save all the ships in San Carlos!!! Why??? Not because they shot down planes (they didn´t shoot even one), she was important because almost 8 planes attack her....the first plane hit her with a bomb that exploted...that damanged seriuslly the ship...she was out of battle...and the rest of the plane were supoussed to go to San Carlos bay...but they didn´t because the found the ardent on them way...think what could happened...
Does anyone knows where I can find military art about the Malvinas...If anyone want´s a few argeninean paints of the war mail me and I would send you really cool ones...(you must see one that is 3 Skyhacks attacking troops...)
Ok...and to all the people that insult me :fist: ...I try to be polite but I had enogh...
:drinking: CHEARS!!!!!!!!!

Surely the United Nations rule of self determination applies, or does it? We all know how the US these days works outside the rules of the United Nations. The Falkland Islanders follow the British way of life, use British currency, hell - they are British in a way! The Islanders are under the government of their choosing. Nothing else really matters.

Hey Condor,

I have been reading this thread with interest, and one thing sticks out above all others,,,malvinas,,,,just where in gods name is that?
I went to the FI along with a few thousand others to re-take the FI,
dont ever remember seeing or passing or indeed yomping on any malvinas.
One thing i do remember though,(i very rarely speak of it as i view this episode of war as just a small part of a larger and more important picture,
the liberation of our people, however you have pissed me off more than a little with your crap,so here goes)i was credited with shooting down a mirage jet using a blowpipe,do you think daddy knew the pilot????????????
The way i feel at present its a damn shame you are too young too have been flying it.

Moderators, please forgive me if i have gone a bit far,but this guy gets right up my nose.    :fist: :fist: :fist:

No probs from my point of view Happy.

Condor, if you want to continue talking please go ahead, but patriotic fervour never actually won a war, it may have started a few, but it's usually solid ground work that wins in the end.
Many of the men who fought there contribute to this site. Please do not insult them or their comrades, who remain forever in Falkland.
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

Condor,
Upon reading your threads i get the impressiun that you are quite young(you must be to have such a romantic view of war).
Someone on this site will tell me which General said "Only a soldier knows the horrors of war",(Montgomery??)

Many of the people on this site have been involved in one or more conflicts throughout the World .By virtue of the fact we survived these conflicts, some mothers son has died.
There is nothing glorious about death, especially when that death is brought about by the greed and stupidity of politicians.

In the case of the Falkland Islands your people and politics were wrong, and are still wrong to believe that the Islands were yours to do with as you wish and the people yours to command as you see fit!
Even with the defeat of your armed forces you refuse to admit that the FI are BRITISH.

We are very proud and patriotic in Great Britian, and I,like many others on this site and in this country would go to war again to defend its people from idiotic tyrants. However,we who have been there know what it would be like, and believe you me it is very UNromantic.

I have no burning desire or wish to recall anything about my small contribution to that war, only to say this,i left behind a lot of friends and comrades in arms because of your people and i do not take kindly to the insults you are casting in there direction.

Finally,in answer to you question, where was i when i hit the mirage?

NONE OF YOU F**KING BUSINESS.
Just be pleased you were,nt there.

There must still be dictators running about Argentina telling those who believe in fairy stories that the FALKLAND ISLANDS were Argentinian.
Our lads went down there with limited equipment and did the job fantastically well, kicked Galtieri and his despot dictatorship up the corus, and sent them home to stay in their cloud cuckoo land.Is it true that the Argentinians have a new submarine..........called the Belgrano.!!!!

THE HAPPY WANDERER, I think u r right...But the war is more close to me than u imagine.
When I was 4 ( I was born in 1984) I boy always used to came to my place to play...his father died the 1 of may in a Dagger (mirages for u) and he never had the chance to meet him
My father was in the war too, and only ones in my life I heard him talking about the war...I know how hard it may be for u. Every 28 of may my father calls a friend who was shot down with his pucara and ejected, just to say "happy birthday". This man don´t celebrate his birthday anymore...
I know how hard is it, but for me is a chapter of my country that I´m really proud of (u will probably disagree, let me explain). As well as you may hate dictators or communism, I hate colonialism, I think that it is the worst way of showing the power of a country over others, and my country try to finish with one of the last colonies of america
I respect u as well as I respect argentinean veterans...
I only ask u where u were because only one dagger was shot down by a land based missile...And in all the books they said that he was shot down by a Rapier the 29 of may in San Carlos...
Here, like u said, there are lots of people who would died for our country...british a "argies" are very similar...
One last thing...Galtieri has a big responsability about the war...but the bitch of Tathcher...isn´t that far...do you know that there was a chance of peace, but she chose to sunk the belgrano

So invading the FI was not the act of a Colonial power?
do you know that there was a chance of peace, but she chose to sunk the belgrano
Antelope, Atlantic Conveyor, Sheffield..................want me to go on?

Your thoughts are interesting Condor, unfortunately it's unlikely we will agree with your opinions, especially if you call Lady Thatcher a Bitch. She has more balls (cojones) than many of your senior officers of the period.
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

Condor

I fully understand why you might hate colonialism. But you might want to think about one question:

Why do Argentinians speak Spanish??

The country of Argentinia only exists because of Spanish colonialism. And, of course, there is no movement in Argentina to return control of the country to native South American Indians.

Unfortunately Condor you have been taught nationlist propagnda by a regime thats has an inferieroity complex. As a result you have strange views relating to history and a proper discussion is therefore worthless because you have been brain washed.

The Guardian, Isobel Hilton

If Leopoldo Galtieri, who has died aged 76, had any sense of wonder, it must have come into play as he stood on the balcony of the Casa Rosada in Buenos Aires on April 8 1982. A few days earlier, the Plaza de Mayo below had been full of citizens venting their rage against the military government that he headed. Now, in the wake of the Falkland Islands invasion of April 2, the square was full of cheering people.

His regime, vilified for human rights abuses in the "dirty war" and with failed economic policies, had been transformed into a government that had salvaged national honour by recovering the islands with their population of 1,200. Galtieri, an impulsive man with a liking for Scotch, acknowledged the cheers. He must have thought he had saved the military project and assured his place in history.
I feel the reason for Argentinean invading the Falkland Islands, was to try to save Leopoldo Galtieri and his government ass. Nothing to do with the fact that he or his government thought that the Falkland Islands belonged to Argentinean.

Being a military government he did the only thing a military government knows how to do !! The rest is history

This is my view and I came about this from programmes I have watched on the history channel, books and newspaper articles. 8)

I know your an Argie so the fact I can't understand your English is tolerable. I will try and give you some of my brutal Spanish.
One last thing...Galtieri has a big responsability about the war...but the bitch of Tathcher...isn´t that far...do you know that there was a chance of peace, but she chose to sunk the belgrano
Since the Falklands were under the lawful control of the British Government, it was essentially invading England herself, you declared war on us mate, and we responded in kind. The Iron Lady handled herself well I would have to say as she didn't take such bullshit. How would you have felt if the task force had shown up and invaded Argentina?

Since you have grown up in a Nazi wanna be country I will excuse your confusion as nonsensitcal dribble.
