At last, the forums are all friendly and fluffy again :). Well maybe not so fluffy with all these bayonets, rusty scaplels and iffy legs lying around, but you get the idea :).

OMIGOD...............your not the baby brother my parents had to sell to pay the gas bill are you..............if you are you will no doubt be chuffed to find out that the remaining three boys all served in the Parachute Regiment. I always said you were the black sheep of the family, how dare you drag our families name down by becoming a sea soldier.

Now I did the P Course straight from finishing basic training with a County Regiment, which 10 weeks, I then did the P Course which was ten days,
then went to Abingdon for two weeks for the jump course. So the whole lot took about 14 weeks.

Actually the Para's are firstly air borne infantry and secondly light infantry, where as the navy's definition of marines is amphibious infantry...

They are also both specialists, one specialises in air borne insertions and the other specialises in amphibious insertions…

I've looked at the paras but decided I want to be a marine. The navy are the main force aren't they, they have ships to shoot things, planes to bomb things and also soldiers to drink beer. The navy's soldiers even get their own ship to carry them about about. So as far as I can see it the Marines are more important than the paras regardless of who is best.

Or maybe I'm talking a load of sh*te and the MOD are thinking of disbanding the Marines. Whichever is true I'm sure someone will tell me?
