Is the search faciitiy working ok, or is it me? I stumbled over a reference to special forces wings and I think an RM blazer badge, but when I enter 'special forces wings' into the thing, I get 765 topics over 16 pages none seem to involve wings of any kind.
What am I doing wrong ?
The reason for my interest is that a mate of mine from B Sqdn, calle Trevor Larkham joined the RM. Many years ago now, tall fair haired lad. Last I heard he was a sniper with 42.
As he was entitled to wear SAS wings, would he be allowed to wear them when he joined or would he have to wear ordinary (tee hee could not resist it) or brigade wings or would it all be scrapped and he would have to back to Brize ??

Chunky,
Sometimes the search facillity can`t make it`s mind up, but it tries anyway. So you may get loads of help, non of it relevant. All I can suggest is to be as specific as possible and to fill in more of the fields on the search. There are times when it gives up and says "no topics could be found"etc, when you know that a topic does exist. Ask the question in a differant way or try changing the customised settings( search for words in text or title) for instance.
It`s not Google, but it is cheap
Play around with it and have fun

Chunky, the original query was raised by someone calling himself Hawkeye, supposedly SB, as you can see from the thread he immediately exposed himself as a Wannabe. Rob

Thanks Prez.
As you infer a total Wan**r , but it could cause some confusion in the future, with the 'All Arms Special Forces Selection.
In my day 21 & 23 SAS had a two week selection course, as long as one passed the pre-selection the week end before ( equivelant to 'long drag' in the case of 23, 'long drag' in reverse less one short leg in the case 21).
The TA selection test week was the same as 22's but 22 had a longer 'long drag,
as far as I was concerned it was just to differentiate between regular and ta, so they could look down on us.
This meant that to join 22 from 21 or23 one had to do the regular selection, the same as every other aspirant. Which everyone thought was pretty fair. A sodier in the ta sas, who had joined frm civvy street, had to serve 3 years, but then find a regular regiment he could transfer from and if all went pear shaped, could be RTU'd to. This was usually the Para Reg, IF he passed P Company.
The SBS selection was something altogether different and rumoured to involve black magic.
I my opiniom SF Group was invented so the boss could go up from Lt. Colonel to Brigadier and the same I reckon for the new system.
I have heard rumours that a couple of Paras passed delection and have opted for the SBS.
Do they wear aan SAS beret with a globe and laurel or a green beret with an SAS winged dagger????

Sorry Chunky, my only knowledge is the previous 6-8 week selection course at Poole during the '70s. Pretty hard work by all accounts.
No idea about 22 guys transferring to ATURM. They'd have to do the AACC in order to wear the hat!

If somebody is attached to the Corps, but has not passed the AACC they retain their original hat/beret. So the SAS chap would wear his beige hat and winged dagger badge.
