Killer Yomp

Post by Oakers »

Have you ever noticed that all the kit they tell you is "manpackable" has been decreed so by those who've probably never seen it let alone had to "pack it"! :bad-words:

The LAW, link, SF kit, spare batteries, mortars come on lads you know this one join in........

Royal has been manpacking for as long as he has had two legs to walk on. One of the toughest manpack yomps that I can recall was the yomp into the Radfan. The manpack belonging to one of my MMG No1's weighed more than he did and he was still there at the end. Not bad when the temperatures could rise to 128 degrees in the shade.

Aye - Andy.

Andy,

I am feeling truly knackered just thinking about it. Carrying radios spare batteries et al on the Djebel Widina climb was a bit of a bu**er too. Good job we had those mules, oh sorry, HW rates to carry the Vickers and mortars. Hey pal, any room for three spare A41 batteries? F*** OFF Sigs!

You lads think thats hard work, try christmas shopping in Plymouth high Street with three kids in tow and a hubby that insists in going into every sports shop invented. Bags all over the place, plastic cutting into your fingers and kids screaming because they want a pee, and hubby moaning cause he wants a pint.......now that is the yomp from hell!!
