And the battle of the sexes rage on, this is a debate that will never be ended there are guys out there that think no way in hell, and there are girls out there that think they have to do it to prove a point.
At the end of the day there will never be an agreement between the two. This is just like the whose the best convocation that keeps coming up, so please part as friends and go your separate ways

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO, ABSOLUTELY NO WOMEN IN THE SPECIAL FORCES.I ALSO DO OBJECT TO THEM BEING ANY WAY ATTACHED TO THE INFANTRY,let them stay in offices and keep them busy doing paper work. The last thing you want is some screaming female on operations with you.Sorry ladies you are just not cut out for real soldiering stay at home and breast feed the bairn.

No chance, not being sexist but throughout history who has gone away and hunted and fought the wars? Well I can tell you for one thing it was not the women, plus I agree women emotionally are weaker than men and the MAJORITY of men are stronger. Also to be honest the women, is surposed to take care of the children ect. I mean in a divorce case why do they always take the side of the mother? Anyway I think that women pay an important role in the military, some things you have to leave to a man!

Quite honestly, I do not believe I have just read some of the comments here, this is the 21st century, for Gods sake !!!!!
I think some of you should hang your heads in shame.
Some of you with no military experience, clearly don't know what you are talking about. As for the old and bold, well did any of you actually meet any of the girls from 14 Int ? No, probably not, infact, you probably never knew they existed. They (females) have worked in conditions, situations and areas of op, the like of which you would never in you're wildest dreams ever encounter. You do yourselves and them a disservice by the stupid remarks some of you have come out with.
Gash, lets leave this lot to it, they deserve one another.

Put a tampon in it will you.... so what if it is the 21st century, have women suddenly grown man features or something?
I agree there is a place for women in cetrain roles within the armed forces but to put women in the SAS, paras, royal marines and various other roles is just down right stupid.

Hello all,
Interesting topic, I almost want to bring up the social construction of masculinity, but I'm not going to! First things first I am not a sexist, homophobe or anything else in any way. We are all equal bullets kill men just as easily as they do women. I do however think you have to consider the fundamental element of practicality; the Army/Armed Forces will technically work better as a single sex unit of one sexuality (at a combat level at least). I will hold my hands up and say I am not, nor have I ever been in any armed force (soon will be hopefully) but you do not need to be to understand that the military is not like any other more "normal" job. This added to the fact that men are generally the stronger sex, history proves that if nothing else, means that logically the Army/Armed Forces should be a patriarchy.
This is not to say that there aren't military jobs that women excel at, particularly in some aspects of SF as sandy pointed out. But one thing I do believe is these jobs do not include the SAS (Women in the SAS was the original post title if any one can remember that far back) or even the Infantry (are the SAS technically an Infantry unit?!) due to physical and mental make up of the two sexes. Neither sex is better, just different making us suitable to different jobs!
N E way that is my two cents as it were, I did not mean to offend any one and I am very sorry if I did.

Bigwig, I find your opening comments highly offensive and totally uncalled for. If you had bothered to read through this thread properly, you would have found that I at no time ever considered women in the SAS/SBS or indeed in any infantry type roles a good idea. Yes, there are some things best suited to one gender or the other. But as Gash and I and others, have been trying and obviously failing to point out, when people gob off about SF it is not just about the all guns and glory stuff that Mr McNab and co write about, either.

Re!
Bloody hell is this still going on?
There's really no point cracking on with this one lads because you have different opinions, and rightly so, so the same things are just being repeated and quite frankly, it got boring quite a while ago.
As Gash mentioned earlier
