In my experience, and as far as the Royal Marines is concerned, it is the man that is judged, not where he comes from. If he makes the grade and has a sense of humour he will fit in easily regardless of race, creed or colour.

On a personal basis I rate Aussies (and Kiwis) highly, especially the Sheilas. (Drifts off on a cloud of happy memories of Brisbane and the Gold Coast way back in 1966 when I was but a lad )

Greenbank camp Oct/Nov '66 42 drank the bar dry on day 1, even the Aussie bar manager was surprised. memories only surpassed by 40 Sigs Troop having the dubious honour of being banned from the mens's bar of the China Fleet Club in 1970. The bar was known as `The Jungle' by the manager ad being thrown out was quite something, I blame Tony Luckman as he seemed to be leading the perfoprmance. Cheers Tony!

From what it would seem from the above stories, your best bet would be to stay in OZ :D and :o the sheilas.

G`Day,hryagoin.(good day, how are you going?)
As said elsewhere, there are currently two RMs attached to Aust Defence Forces, a Major over in the east who teaches "Amphibiousity" and an SB Sgt here in Perth who instructs Oz SAS although he is currently unavailable due to the activities of some mad bastard with a moustache( before you start, Parry, that`s Not me  )

Major Rick tells a story of his mate, an Oz F 18 jock, who was going to Diego Garcia, a British Crown Colony which is home to many hundreds of US Airmen and several RMs. DG has the best mess in the Indian Ocean, bar none. Whilst Bruce was stationed there HMS Illustrious turns up, and he was somewhat bemused when they decided to have a Naked Night in the mess.
Early hours and things are getting noisy, when in strolls Elmer’s Shore Patrol to winge about the noise. Imagine his surprise, confronted by several hundred naked men confined in that small space.
“This behaviour is not acceptable, Gentlemen. I will be taking names, and they will be reported to the Base Commander.” Pointing at a (slightly over-weight) nudist, “You, what`s your name”
“I am the Base Commander, now f$^k off out of my mess!”
F 18 drives was suitably impressed :P
