I found this very moving. Ive had my doubts about the morality of this war.
If only bush was as articulate as this officer perhaps the situation would be different

Especially comapred wih the honest, down to earth, from the heart etc speeches like that we've been hearing from the British officers, I really didn't know whether to laugh at the stupidity or cry at the ignorance of the US Navy commander (I forget who) who went on stage with "We will rock you" banging away, toops whooping and clapping, being told "it's hammer time"
. Talk about gung bloody ho.
re
Ive noticed that difference everytime
I saw a para commander talking to his men, an intelligent speech, explaining why they were there, and why it was "right".
Then the media switches to an american colonel/general who basically goes "Lets go kick iraqi butt" or similar.
I guess its just different styles, but i hope the americans DO realise they are supposed to be liberators not conquerers.

The CO of 40 Commando briefed his men yesterday. "Tomorrow the eyes of the World will be on YOU, you will be the first troops across the border."
If that simple statement does not make you stand tall, and feel a tingle down your spine, then I don't know what will.

Spot on Rob. I feel pride, a sort of envy that I'm not there with them but, at heart, I guess I feel lucky that my time has come and gone. A guilty, 'rather them than me' feeling.
Oh How I FU**ING HATE POLITICIANS!!
My neighbours son is out there with 42 - been in all of 6 months. We're all praying he's not one of the "8". But how selfish is that?!?
They are someone's neighbour.
We can only offer sympathies - which are little enough consolation. Don't it make you feel helpless?
