I know this and I do fink I have this quality. Sorry if I sounded arrogant in that last post. It was the dissapointment speaking. I thought that in the end he thought I hadn't grown up enough to join which I respect and hope that after the 6 months things have changed. I'm only 16 and haven't been rejected from anything so I have all my chances still. If after this 6 months I do not make it for the same reason I will try again in 1/2 years. If after this I still don't make it I think I would be considered for a final chance when I'm a bit older. I believe I am determinded, motivated, commited and have self-discipline. I aren't trying to be big headed here but I think in the end I will make it
Why do they have Matelots interview for RM?
Thats pointless.
Anytime I've went to AFCO in Glasgow I've always been referred to one of several Marines, the officer in charge is a Marine officer and served at reserve unit i'm training with. We didnt' agree 100% on everything but I could not complain about the Royal Marine Or Royal Navy personnel at the AFCO. RAF were f**king useless though.
Go elsewhere, even just phone other AFCO's and tell them you want to speak to a Marine. Dont' start mouthing off about the matelot, just explain you think a Marine would have better diea form his own experience.

Don't forget though that all Careers Advisers, matelot or otherwise, are highly professional people. Their job is not a secret conspiracy to steal Marines for the Navy, they just want to point you towards a career path suitable for you. Sound plausible? I wouldn't worry anyway, if you do stick with it for 6 months you've shown loads of determination and you shouldn't have any trouble. Unless of course you're destined to be matelot
Aye, DAN
lol i remember when i was in the recruiting office for the 1st time last year in January (over a year ago!) and there was some fat ginger haired git trying to get me to join the navy, and i kept on sayin i want in the marines, well to that effect, he told me that for my PRMC that i should be able to run 6 miles with EASE, at the time i was like...f@#k! that aint happenin! but now..it is happenin!!
he was telling me only the nasty bits of your marine training..nothing positive

Now I've come to realise that a 6 month encourager period aint bad. I mean I gotta live my civvy life a bit more before I go for it and I want to really push myself fitness/strength wise in that time. Got a planned out training schedule that should have me super fit and have a lot of UB strength. Blessing in disguise I say. Also, I wanna make sure I have my last laffs (for a while) with my oldest friends before I go. Im sticking to my programme fully and am still looking for a job but for some strange reason I know I will make it. I'm honestly not bein big headed but in my mind this is what I want to do with my life and I'm not afraid to give it my all. In the end the interviewer had his reasons and I agree with them, but in 6 months I'll be goin back ready mentally and physically. Cheers Matelot Interviewer
