Swopy can I make a suggestion. You say you have just started In the RAF reserve, why don't you get your self through basic go on to trade training what ever your trade Is maybe even do a tour as I know there are a lot on offer, by then you probably will be told you are off on one any way, and see how you get.

What do you mean Hands on?

My CO told me to still come to basic as it will help me get into the military way of life.

The main reason I want to join the RAF is because were I live it is impossible to get a full time job and ever since I was little I've had a fascination about the armed forces.

The IOT comment did come from a pilot...so perhaps you're right :)

So the fact I have a problem with my spelling and grammar shows I have a lack of interest in how I communicate ? Would you care to explain why it shows I have a lack of interest because I can't see how?

Also how does it show a lack of respect? If some one has autism or is dyslexic does that mean they have a lack of respect for some one?

Yes I have a spelling and grammar problem but no body is perfect. O no sorry I forgot you must be the only person in the whole human race that is perfect.
I don't think you have a spelling and grammar problem as such. I think the problem is two-fold:

1) Your first posts were very lazy - you used text speak and didn't think about full stops, capital letters etc. Go back and read your first few posts and compare it to your last posts.

2) You think you have a problem with your English and assume that's the way it is. Whereas you should think my English is not bad but how can I improve it. It will take you a few hours at most to read a few websites on the use of apostrophes and other symbols.

My English isn't perfect, but when someone criticizes something about me, it initially upsets me for an hour and then I find a way of improving it. I went to an appalling school and hated English! It's only in the last 3 years I've made an effort to think about what I write. I'm in my late twenties - so it's never too late to learn.

I do agree I didn’t put any effort into my first posts as I didn’t read one of the sticky’s and assumed it would be ok.

It wasn’t the fact I cant take criticism it was the way that the other users went about telling me. Also if they went about it like you have then that would of been even more helpful.

I know I’m not the best speller but even since I was told about my spelling on here, I have put an effort into keeping it to a tolerable standard. But to some people its doesn’t seam good enough.

I know I most probably haven’t got what it take to be a pilot. But I said in my first post, If i can’t make the grade for pilot I’m more than happy to join the reg.

The problem with spell checkers is that they don't know which word you actually meant to use, so you quite often end up with one which sounds similar, but means something completely different...
You can have peace.
Or you can have freedom.
Don't ever count on having both at once.

I have just read through all of this thread.

Does anybody else think that this guy is taking the piss?

All of a sudden his posts go from unreadable to almost readable.

Dyslexic? I don't think so

He says he can't stand the critiscism from certain people but still continues to wind us up!!

He may be even clever enough to be a fast jet pilot but I don't think the RAF would have him - not even as an RAF gunner in the Regiment!!

Can I ask you a to explain a few things for me please?

How am I taking the piss?

How am I winding every body up?

I don’t mind criticism if it is done in a constructive way. If some one said “your spelling isn’t good can you please use a spell checker” then I would be more than happy to try and sort it out. But when some one says “You say you have perfect eyesight. Good for you,now concentrate on your spelling and grammar”. It doesn’t really help any one does it?

I never said I had dyslexia, I was just using it as an example.
