Dear chaps, oh my apologize, please.I meant, Dear Ladies & Gentlemen,

I would SINCERELY like to apologize for any feelings of hostilities and offense, that some individuals in this forum might have felt to have been consciously intended and directed to all those members of this splendid forum. I meant no offense, but hold to highest esteem and respect, to all these members; the former paratroopers, the present troopers and those seeking to belong in future to this elite regiment of her majesty armed forces.

Please, Kindly accept my sincere apologizes.

Sincerely,

Hannibal143.

I second that assessment. Now usually I can read text speak but not drunken text speak by a fingerless muppet.

Hannibal
With a reply like that have you thought of a career in politics?.
The fact that you are a Postgrad and wanting to join the Paras is of no concern to me,in fact it seems perfectly normal,a chance to get some life experience and test yourself etc etc.
What brassed me off is the fact that you're a Postgrad and your first post is something I'd expect from a spotty yoof who can't put his Burberry hat on the right way.
I do hope you didn't dumb down, thinking you would find a level of response to your question from an assumed level of intelligence on here.If so you are going to be in for a shock if you start your selection process with that mindset.
Most of the people you will come across might not have a degree,or be educated to the standard they would have liked to have had the chance to be.
But you will find lots of VERY switched on people, who know how to get results and keep themselves and their mates alive in some of the shittiest places.
Anyway,I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on that, you have shown us that you can formulate something that almost makes sense, can you continue in that frame of mind.
And its not all about how fast and how many, its a frame of mind and attention to detail.....Rant over I'm going to work.
Hannibal,welcome to the forums xx.

am literary learning a lot here, from just the replies (esp.,haters, haha, thanks==haters, becoz u dnt know me n readily judge me),on (that learning on) the psychology of paras (or seems infanteers).at least wen i go 4 da icebreaker n interviews,i would know to keep ma gobble shut on my educational achievement(which i forgot to tell, haters particularly, that i have been,or should say suppose to be starting my postgrad,as i have been accepted by glasgow uni, brunel, leicester and nottingham(to do military studies n the last, behavioural psychology).

why i dont do sumtin not so nutts wit ma life;the 10+proffessional of my degree(civil servant, journalism etc) or choose army career that with ''status'',simply, personal reasons,i owe sumting to our armed forces, and promised myself to payback wit the service at it most desperate time, like now with the war on terror.secondly, was offered military intel or officer training and sandhurst, but i choose the trenches, where the essence of soldiery is at.....yeah i am a romanticist.

in simple words,my choice here is based solely on principles of honour and duty,to the country and family.bullshit, you say.here, the army(paras),were responsible for my life...all i can say.you wanna hate, and jiving bollocks to feel good about yourself(and the feeling that this forum seems to gives u,of regency..yeah regency, that supreme authority, wisdom and machoism,i did it..so u all listen to me,and u have to)then f@#k it,go 4 it,mate.

well,to those who just finished ADSC,gives us details a la foreign legion forums.for example, medical what specifics, interviews usual questions, breaking the days in detail, waking up time etc.

thanks in advance, and sorry to any feeling of offensive to anyone, not intended to be so.

Hannibal first things first. There are rules to this forum, one of those rules is NO TEXT SPEAK and is one that all forum members are expected to abide by.

Secondly, I don't think anyone cares that you have a degree, it isn't a big thing. I got mine at 28 (just to proove something to myself) and only use the BA(Hons) in business letters. Any other time I tend not to think about it (no one else does).

Thirdly, I would suggest you don't mug off other forum members during your very first thread. Attitude like that would get you the old soap and sock treatment at your ATR.
'Paddysprat' a phrase used when explaining the origins of an 'Army Brats' accent.

I wasn't getting any feelings of hostility from you, neither did I take offence, I just couldn't understand you!
And I hope you meant you respect all members of the armed forces, not just the para types!
You're welcome aboard, as long as you're posting in 'normal' english.
You can have peace.
Or you can have freedom.
Don't ever count on having both at once.

thanks again to you members of the forum.

And I did meant what I noted of my respect and of great esteem that I hold for not just the paras (ancien, present and future-to-be) but also the whole of our great and the best of armed forces. If I did not I would not try to be a part of it's prestigious membership.

much appreciated the warm welcome, and hope to be a long time member of the forum,as a blind man,I do need it's help for direction to reach my objective.

thanks.

(to paddysprat, hyperlite, holstershoulder, especially, and the rest for their sincerity and friendly welcome).

For Flightwrighty/Jayne,

Mate your pulling our chains.Linguists by nature and training are first and foremost stoic philosophers,it is reason not emotions that leads them. And secondly, they are logicians, which by premises of your argument which GOES AGAINST THE VERY ''TERMS & CONDITIONS'' OF THE FORUM,yourself acknowledged with an apology to mr. rogue.

So, what was your subject of interest in linguistics,or give us your dissertation subject, and a brief explanation, because I think your ''compensating'' by claiming your degree achievement.

You don't have what a linguist would be expected to have.

sorry, tosser(my bad,I apologize for such a word too,rogue.)

10k!!!?? Sounds conservative!

Odd thread though.

A newbie who seems to regard being a graduate as something unique or impressive. Not sure I'd want to boast about p/g offers from some fairly mediocre establishments either.

Seems the usual in here these days? :o

My last girlfriend was a Cum laude graduate on an uni in Holland.
She believed fairies and dwarfs exist. She told me they lived in Ireland.

I wonder what you believe in Hannibal? :drinking:

hehe I mean no harm,.. it's really a question!

Hey Rick,

I believe I am the THE reincarnation of the great general himself, HANNIBAL BARCA of Carthage.

And it seems I am already facing my Scipio Africanvs(the forum) before even the horns for battle of Zuma are blown (depot). What a shame??hehe!
