When I was in Thailand (Bangkok - no sniggering), I found it is REALLY cheap. Hit the markets and you'll find tons of stuff that would cost 10 times more over in the UK.
Don't be fooled by the triple figure prices, (I think) 1000 Baht is only £20!

Roughly 65 Baht to the Pound so 1000 equals about 15 quid.

I was almost right, last time I was there was a while ago! And when you're there, don't use the taxi cars, use the tuk tuks (scooter type things) they're cheaper, faster and much more exciting!

Not sure if this is that helpful but if your planning on working in Aus later on in life and you have applied for a working visa for your upcoming travelling, then you need to fulfill around 70 days of work to be eligibale to apply for another one later on in life! If not you will not be granted a working visa again. Im hitting australia and NZ in january for a few months.

heres a link to a decent website that may help you alot
