Hi all. first off just wanted to say this is a fantastic site.
I’m currently living in Australia studying at university but thinking of leaving however. I’m 18 years of age and I’m a Australia/duel British citizen. The jobs I’m looking at joining as are seaman specialist, communications or warfare specialist
The questions I have are
1.Are these jobs popular and hard to get in to?
2.Are there many Australians in the RN and will they care that im australian and applying for the RN?
3.Will they look at me dropping out of university in a badway and will it be a significant issue?
4. how long will the whole recruitment process take due to time restraints comming from overseas
any help is greatly appriciated

Hi + A few Questions
Hi mate I'll try and answer most of your questions, ok here we go.
1. Out of the 3 jobs you listed warfare specialist is the most popular branch to go into, apparently you will need to achive around 50-55% on the recruit test to get into the branch.
2.Don't know about the number of aussies the RN, but I'm sure they won't mind you joining up. When I was at raleigh there were a few recruits from carribean, trinidad and tobago, south Africa.
3. Not to sure about that, you will have to ask them and get more more research.
4. Depends on how long the waiting list is for your chosen branch. Don't now though about the oversea bit, all i know is, is you will have alot of paperwork
. Hope this helps.

If you are determined enough to do something, then you will succeed at anything.

Isn't a funny old world - I guess it's really about the grass being greener on the other side.....
Here we have a bloke who want's to leave Australia to join the RN and there is a back log of serving and discharged British Military waiting to be processed for appointment/enlistment to the Australian Defence Force.
